My goal in making detroit techno is that one day I might create a song that is as emotionally profound and undeniably groovy as Derrick May's 'R-theme' or, for the unknowing, 'Strings of life'. This track testifies that I have still a long way to go, or that I may never reach that goal. But it's good to have a dream. About this song specifically: it's a bit boring at first but once it gets going it's alright, i think. the break is not really allowed in detroit and i think it cheapens the song, but it's hard to resist since it's so easy! for the fans of the first hour, they may recognize a distinct 'they say all is rational' influence.
yes true detroit here... Nice song gratzzz...Indeed, i think that will be revival soon like electro some years ago...Detroit is very close friend music
waaw, i thought i "knew" detroit techno because i knew kevin saunderson's style but this sound is deeper. very inspiring to me, i think i'll start that detroit revival right away.
i suggest to everyone who wants to find out about this music derrick may's innovator cd. crap dj, brilliant producer. i don't think that revival will ever come, my guess for the next revival is 90's music a la dr alban.
yes, i'm also convinced that there will be a happy hi-nrg eurodance style revival. i'll check out the "innovater" album. thanks
sounds ok, bass is a bit 'dof' and hihats a bit 'schel' + you should make the percussion/drumsparts more interesting...but I can hear the detroit influences yeah, dreams....
I'm retro-revivaling all the time in my head or when buying oldschool techno compils on the secondhand-market...aaah...those were the days...of which i musically remember little...no, not because of the drugs, because I was like 10 years old back then :-)
