In desperate need of mastering, had to turn the volume all the way up. Needs a lot of mixing too, some elements are disturbing much louder than they should be. Melody is rather cheesy. Synths aren't powerfull enough. Strings in the break are okay. The typical fruity percussion is rather annoying. After the break there isn't much changing so it's getting repetitive. That typical oompa bassline I hate so much is in there too. There are better things than kick-bass-kick-bass. The idea isn't bad, you just need a lot more experience (and prolly more equipment too) to finish off the track.
Thanx for your comment Dezma. I appreciate your honest opinion. As only of such comments i can learn and improve my work. Yes i do need lots more experience and could always use more equipment. But this is my very first experience with the Reason software. So i still have to learn a lot. But that's the fun part of it :) About the melody being cheesy. That's personal taste i guess. I like these kind of tunes. Greetz
yea i know should've added imo. It just sounded a bit too easy for me but that's all subjective. With some additional sound editing and a lot more mixing and mastering you could have a decent song there. Listen to what I did with a sample of your song in 10 minutes of extra mastering.. Yeah that sounds more like it :) I just have to figure out how to do that myself. Guess my master volume is part of the problem. And indeed the mixing still needs work. But your short master mix sound really good. Will try and keep your comments in mind during the making of my next song. Greetz ;)
