The basis of this composition is a "world-scratch" by BRAND (www.g-turns.com), who play the world in the same way a record player plays records. They scratch across the earth's topography with the help of two databases, among them Google Earth. I was offered a free song recently during their product presentation @Philharmonie Luxembourg on Mar 31, 2007, and given permission to use it any way I want. I chose a 15-minute journey from Pfaffenthal (Luxembourg City) to Shinjuku (Tokyo), and what you can hear is the needle scratch in a straight line from A to B. I used to live in Tokyo, hence my choice. I then had a look at a World Atlas to see just what exactly I can hear... and I then overdubbed this recording 3 times with musical exploits of my own in order to get to what you can hear now. But the world-scratch from A to B is teh basis and what inspired whatever else I have put on top. Critical comments appreciated.
Thanks to the explication, the track really stimulated my imagination, nice. But I wonder what I would think of it without knowing where it came from. It sounds like a needle on a slipmat from time to time wich is a bit of a frightning sound ("oh no, my needle!)
/ Thanks for your comment. Hmm... Do you think I should erase all the info on it for the time being, to see what people make of it then?
wow... man... this is damn impressive... as well the idea as the realization... and just as floppy said... this is so stimulating... one does really feel the journey... leave the description as it is... its very cool! congrats mate! I'll add this one to my favz!
