i tried something entirely different then what i'm used to. digital folk metal. again, i started it for my girlfriend lore, because i gave up on all previous shots at a perfect song for her. this one has already one advantage: it's something i usually don't do. o and another: it's folk. it's for lore. it's folklore :D ... perhaps kinda cheap :)) please! for loves sake! help me reach perfection! so don't hessitate to say what's wrong (or right :D also nice to hear).
hehe with metal in the description i imagined something worse but it's not that bad! ( excuse me, but i'm not kind of a metalfan :D ) but as mentioned i find it retty ok :)) maybe try higher notes in the melodie with the violins or trumpet? ( can't hear the difference, too stoned :D à
well, i like it.... maybe add some more verb here and there and delay some snaredrums to blend it more, and then some hard-ass compression and eq... good track, continue on it !

ooooh man, sorry to disappoint you, but I don't like this at all... Let me tell you why; it's mainly because of the sound quality. Was this a one-shot composition? It sure sounds like one. And as you know, I'm a metalfan, so I can really really appreciate that you try to make some folkmetal, and it's amazing how open-minded you are towards other styles (even in your own productions), it's just that your sound in this case is too thin and too fake. Now I know that I use programmed guitars myself ;) but I think it proves you do can get some decent guitarwork out of your softs. What you use here sound alot like the standard guitars in reason (do you use reason?) and well, they sound horrible. It takes a lot of knobtwisting and trial and error before you can get a guitarsound which comes somewhat close to reality. Now moving to the string section: the melodies are actuallly quite nice and for folk they are adequate and right. But also here you need to work on the sound to bring it closer to reality, and less like half of the instrument is cut off by a chainsaw ;-) I support you 100% in trying to broaden your styles, but so far this is just a vague attempt. I think for this kind of music it's better to concentrate first on the development of the sound, before starting on the song.
this is indeed a first shot at it. first shot at the genre as well, so i'm all but dissapointed! i'm glad you say you don't like it, especially cause you say WHY not. realy helpful when exploring areas i haven't been before! thanks a lot mate! i use fls by the way :)) this first shot was the idea, and i uploaded it to get some comments like yours, because i do want to continue working on this idea with -indeed- better sound quality. so thanks again! should we ever meet, drins are on me!
