Electrobel UK and the future

Analysis

I am quite doubtful to the future of the UK/Ireland portal of Electrobel...

It's been over a year since the launch, and the portal is still very quiet. not much traffic, not many users, not many songs, ...

If you check out the stats ( link 'About' at the bottom of this page, then on 'ebel stats')... you'll see that song downloads are even regressing on the uk portal. Meaning that people are losing the very little interest they already had with it.

Reasons

Why is the uk portal not taking off, whereas the holland and france portal are already out there in orbit ? Even though they have to do the lingual effort ?

Is it the lack of a uk based team ? Is it something different in the mentality ? Is there already a similar website for the uk ? Are there no or very little CC artists in the uk ?

So many questions go thru my mind , especially when i recall the lack of interest after my 'forum spamming' to announce the launch of the uk portal on uk music forums.

It doesn't cost much to keep the uk portal open (only the domain name registration basically), but right now i kind of feel as if it's giving the ebel network a bad name. Kinda like having straight A's all thru your report and a F in maths ... somehow your parents will always complain about the F and never congratulate all the A's ^^ No, i don't mean i have to report any results to anyone, just talking globally, 'parents' being site visitors...

I'm even reticent to making new promotion, as it's been over a year after the launch and the portal is still empty ..... doesn't quite make you want to go and register ^^

Do you like Ebel ?

You who registered on ebel uk, who login once in a while ... do you like the concept ? do you think we should continue the uk portal ? Do you think you have a solution ? Are you interested in making part of the promotion team ?

We need all the help we can get if we want to get the uk portal up to speed.

hey man, truth is. ive been real busy try'n to get recognised elsewhere other than Ireland (where i'm from). im sad to say that indie music and rock bands are dominating the music scene in my country and in electronic music, if your not a DJ, it's damn near impossible to get gig's and recognition. i'm taking my ass to Australia in september for a while to clear my head. the UK and Ireland portals should be left open as a sanctuary for electronic producers such as myself in Ireland and the UK.

I think you should assign a UK/Ireland based team of ebel artists who would like to be incharge in the UK/Ireland site & organize events in UK like you all have done in holland, france and belgium.

giving uk ebelers a platform to get togather to promote eaach other & local fellow acts.

its just a thought anyway

it was my aim all along, problem was that i didn't know anyone in uk that could take the job.

now that there are some members on ebel uk, maybe someone will be able to coordinate :)

i've received already lot's of pm's and emails of enthusiat people :)

i'm getting two weeks holidays next week, so i'll be in my priority list to get ebel uk setup properly :) .. by holliday, i mean i 'only' have to work from 8h30 to 14h :)

(and italian portal will be up soon, but this one already has a team ^^ )

It's a shame things are not working out, because this site has a lot of potential.

If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

Step 1/ Write a new "propaganda" intro text :) i'll try to find the old one i wrote for .co.uk and update it slightly.

maybe make a pdf out of it, and Step 2/ make it available for you guys.

Step 3/ then you will all be more than welcome to introduce the world around you to this wonderfull site ^^

it would be a shame to see this site go. i have always thought this site was fantastic! i am very much to blame as much as anyone else. i have been busy with a new job, but thats no excuse for not finding some time. i certainly will do all i can to spread the word of electrobel. i wish i had the time to help run the site but theres no chance of that (besides, i don't think i have the brainpower for that) i agree there needs to be a uk based team tho!

ill do my best to bring people to this site & be a bit more active on the forums.

sorry!

thank you

aidor.
