anyone heard or seen anything about tweaking a distotrtion pedal? i have this deucetone rat, and i wonder if it's possible to tweak it into something more raw.

More raw? I like the fuzzyness like it is now. don't you think you'll get just another same old noise sound?

the RAT is created with the idea of beeing a bass0guitar distortion. i think it works perfect for that... but what i'm looking for is a specially adapted ditortion for kicks and such. the rat comes pretty close, but i still think it keeps room for more. now since it's analog circuitry it's probably damn easy to pump it up a bit. and no, i dont think it's gonna become another noise generator! just another good distortion!!

maybe you should turn the volume of the synth / drummachine a little down before the signal goes through your pedal. sounds a little strange but it should help.

the input volume of the rat makes a great diference in the output sound. thats right. but for the really raw and edgy sound i need to turn faders and knobs pretty damn long. because in overall it's pretty clean what comes out of the rat. i can't help to think that it can be much better!

TekTonik - Download page with free VST plugin "TK FilterDisto" has excellent distortion. Remember to store the init settings in your track for reload setting issue on some VST hosts. I use this on Renoise where you have to save the init settings in the song for reloading them properly. That the only thing, it is very nice, has a selection between a few distortion types, a filter with q, treshold, wet out, dry out.

http://www.gearpedia.net/index.php?board=740.0 is empty for the ProCo Deucetone Rat, but maybe look overhere!!: http://vodkamods.com/ Also look at the MOD's section at the WikiPedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro_Co_RAT I have also found a schematic thingy for the original ProCo Rat: http://www.muzique.com/schem/pcrat1.gif
