AVLINUX 2.0

http://www.bandshed.net/AVLinux.html

AV Linux 2.0 is the successor to A/V Linux 1.0 and is a full-featured i386 Linux Operating System that specializes in Multimedia Content Creation. AV Linux 2.0 is based on the Stable and Testing Debian Linux Distributions running the efficient LXDE Desktop Environment. It is further enhanced with Tony Brijeski's Remastersys Installer, Control Panel and Backup Utility. In addition to common everyday Computer tasks it features a full complement of the best F/OSS Multimedia Applications available allowing users to enjoy Multitrack Audio Recording and Mixing, Video Capturing, Editing and Converting, DVD Authoring and Creation, iPod Tools and more...

			General Computer Use - Intel Pentium 3 or AMD Athlon(XP) 800mhz+, 256mb of RAM+, 10Gig HDD Partition

Multimedia Creation - Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon(XP) 1.8Ghz+, 512mb of RAM+, 20Gig HDD Partition

AV Linux 2.0 is not intended to be yet another Linux Distro, it is a customized ready to use "Snapshot" built using the Debian GNU Linux Distribution enhanced with the user-friendliness of the Remastersys Control Panel and the efficient yet attractive LXDE Desktop. The ethos is simple...Install and Create. People new to Linux or curious about it's A/V capabilities should be able to use it right away without having to master Repositories, Terminal Commands, and Specialized Kernels as soon as they boot into a fresh install. This LiveDVD bootable image is ready to use as soon as it's installed without any updates or upgrades, but of course both are available when needed. To enable the best Audio Recording performance an "Audio Extras" folder is contained in the users home folder with a choice of 2 Realtime "-rt" Kernels that can be installed if users want. Multimedia, Flash Player 10 and DVD Support are functional out of the box.

AV Linux 2.0 has been developed with the philosophy that the Operating System should be as resource efficient as possible to ensure that the most Memory and CPU be available to the Applications themselves, in keeping with that it does not include Compiz 3D Compositing support. This also makes it a great candidate for keeping older computers productive, working and out of Landfills as well as maximizing the benefits of newer Multi-Core machines. AV Linux 2.0 focuses on a core of well established, stable Linux A/V Applications instead of including every possible offering regardless of maturity. Of course there is repository access to thousands more Debian Packages of all kinds.
