Hi,I'm discovering ableton...and I would like to know if it's possible to play to sample for exemple drums... at the same time in the same vertical track? Actually I would like to play different drums sample at the same time with out adding other tracks... so that I can keep only One Drum Track ... For example, I have a sample with only HH then I would play a second sample with the snares and the a thirs one with the kicks etc etc...but everything in a single track. So actually I would like that when I decide to play in a same track a second sample that the first one still keep turning...
Put an impulse drum machine on a track and place the different drum samples in the impulse machine.
the idea behind the grid is that only one cell per column can play at the same time.
You can find the impulse machine under the devices tab in the ableton browser.
You could also use vsti (drum)samplers such as battery
Actually It's not samples that I want to play but loops.. so drum loops that I made on reasonand I would like to layer the drum loops my self in ableton. So it would be a kick loop on a snare loop on a HH loop.... Excuse me for the error of vocabulary...
Load the loop into a simpler. Make a rack out of the simpler. Put in more simplers. Load your other loops in those. Asign each simpler device to a seperate key in the rack, and then just draw midi notes for the loops you'd like to play.
if your working live 7, just use the new drumrack.
