PC problem :(

soundcard ? soundcard driver ?

external firewire asio 4ms rate (Yamaha O1X)

it all depends what effects you use,or vsti's....(how mutch ram they need)

like zarks mensioned,its al up to your soundcard,ya can have the fastest pc,with bad soundcard(high latency),ya wont get any good performance out of it;

1ste things 1ste,>>>creative is a toy,if ya want performance ,ya can get it,at even lower price then the most expensive COMMERCIAL CARD;

then comes the issue of a descent driver,lets say you have m-audio;when installing some soft,it will probably choose THE NORMAL ASIO DRIVER. :)

switch it to the m-audio driver,then sx will ask ya to test this configuration;

it wont set it corectly for you,then ya got to find a balance in your device setup,between qualety and power;

dont worry,if ya pc just cant handle the last aded instruments,ya can always freeeze (push the snow icon)some vsti's,so your performance will be lower,and ya can proceed;

lets check those settings,and you will be on your way :D greetz

actually i was also a bit dissapointed when i got myself a new machine, 'cos i never managed to saturate my old centrino 1.4ghz ... and then with my new dualcore 2x2.8ghz i did :)

but then i loaded old sx files and saw that it was just my imagination ^^

so, i'd suggest trying a more 'concrete' approach :)

ps: check if you didn't boost audio to 24bit and 96khz or something ^^ i tryed that and quickly switched back to 16bit 48khz :D

i guess he wrote that,while i was writing mine,its just an example;

then he has to take yamaha asio,many people overlook this when using sx;

if he diden't see the snow icon,in your vstipannel,(where ya load the vsti's,there a icon next to it)then he diden't look very good;

sx has many settings,but it wont be the soundcard nor the pc,its the man behind the settings;24-96.000kz is killaz for performance and unnescecarry;

most samples u use are just 16 bit 48.000khz :D

so no use to set it that high,i never do,and nobody's complaining about my sound

Yeah on my old pc i was on 44.1 16bits

It's normal i dont see your icon :p I barely use vst instruments almost all my sounds are from my synths :)

48.000 x 2 = 96.000hz so u use up double the power...

sony & philips created the 16bit 44.1 khz standard for cd's because their research stated that the human ear wouldn't hear anything above 20.000

strange because we do hear the difference between the standard and 24bit 48khz... 96khz is superquality but indeed quite exaggerated

the *freeze *is indeed a nice trick to save cpu, although i've never needed using it up 'till now...

bedlam, if u barely use vsti'z, i don't understand why u use up 10 fx and oversaturate your cpu... u use this on your audio-channelz or what?
