General discussioni'm listening to the last album of portishead.... waw... it sounds really goooooood. i've bought it without earing anything before (i wanted the surprise)! i definitely love that band.
just wanted to know what our little community think about third. anybody going to the concert? unfortunetly, i don't.
anyway... i've no remorse because of the place (ugly voorst/forest nationa(a)l) and there is a very nice show at le botanique-rotonde the same evening... (marissa nadler and scout niblet).
edit: by the way, does anybody know if the abrupt end of 'silence' is normal?

The new album is amazing...loved every second of it. Not going to the concert though. But i hope to see portishead once!!

I don't think so, it's like the track was cut there :( Still dark but much more mature than the previous albums, less minimalistic. Nice album :)
Going to the concert and got a promo version of the full album. I liked it but it needs some more listening to fully appreciate everything (or not). Machine gun is just amazing! I bet those drumsounds will be copied and used and remixed over and over again in the next month.
I like this album, not as much as the first 2 albums, but enough to listen to it often. BUT ... don't you notice that beth gibbons in some tracks sing out of tune? Particularly in the high frequencies...very strange. Despite that fact i will be there for their live in FN =)
great album i dwnd it, but im gonna buy it for sure i wanted to go to VN, but it was 40€ and soldout by now.. too bad if anyone sells 2 tickets, im in :)

cant listen to the two first abum anymore... too depressive... and mostly... I guess I listened several thousand times to them in the last ten years...
but "third" has a new very powerful energy... an energy with a very different feeling from the first two... I really enjoy listening... over and over again... just as in the other 2 ten years ago!
saw beth gibbons and rustin man live in bxl some time ago... was also damn nice & emotive... but the gig was deceivingly short...
