Red Room Presents Drum & Bass 5

We are back for another edition of slammin' drum'n'bass vibes.

To celebrate one year Red Room we will bring a special UK guest who goes by the name of DJ CHILL, organiser of the STEP DNB party's in northern Ireland. He has played at almost every venue in Northern Ireland, alongside names like Ed Rush & Optical, Shimon, Andy C, Krust, Red One, Mark XTC, Futurebound, SOL etc...

Some info on DJ Chill: Chill has been playin dnb professionally since around 1997. A trained musician since he was sixteeen, he was bitten by the jungle bug at an LTJ Bukem gig he attended whilst a Fine Art student at Belfast Art College. Soon buying mixing decks, he started to play out at a variety of venues throughout Northern Ireland.

After running a number of club nights, most notably "Method-Logic" (York Street Art School) and "The Purple Monkey" (Catalyst Arts Centre), his creative focus began to move further away from his visual arts practice until music finally took over.

Becoming more and more influenced by Virus, Prototype, Infrared and his greatest love, Ram Records, he gradually fell deeper into the harder, raunchier techstep-side of drum and bass. Feeling he is "...often a sort of techno dj in disguise..." Chill rarely lives up to his laid back nickname, with his particular brand of "dirty funk" and unique mixing techniques frequently being displayed at a numer of drum and bass nights throughout Northern Ireland including several headline sets at The Incubator and even going so far as playing on a local club's techno floor, rinsing drum and bass to a supposedly dedicated four-four audience. He also is the only drum and bass dj featured in the Electrotoxic electronic music collective. (Visit www.electrotoxic.com for mix downloads).

In September 2000, he was the first "Knowledge Magazine UK Mixtape winner", and remains the only dj in Ireland (North or South) to join the prestigious list.

He's held residencies on rotation at Solid, Groove 101 and Magic Bullet as well as playing Rhythm Alliance and Calibre and Sage's critically acclaimed Balance.

Currently, Chill runs one of Ireland's foremost DnB nights "Step". Widely regarded as the techstep night in the country. Step already boasts a prestigious list of guests including (most recently) Ed Rush and Optical (Virus), Red One and Andy C (Ram Records) and Futurebound (Infrared, Killahertz, Valve) as well as top notch DJ's from labels like V Recordings, Emotif and Beatz.
