Muzik Style Tree

As was enunciated in the electrobel-v2 code specifications, the muzik styles/genres will bare a recursive tree structure.

As v2 was slightly rushed, and the style/genre new structure not considered robust enough, V2 was launched with the 1.5 version of the genres/styles.

Work was still being done on this structure, and seeing the recent events in the critics of musical genre choice (which have been a polemic since the launch of the v1 site), I spent a couple of hours to finish the new tree.

New Concept:

  • Couple of Main Genres
  • Many sub-genres
  • a sub-genre can belong to more than one Genre.
  • Selecting a genre will also show all songs belonging to a subgenre.
  • Easily expandable, but admin/moderator only.

Dub:

  • roots dub
  • hard stepping dub ( british style, like zion train/power steppers, etc...)

There is 1 point I find a bit difficult, and that's indus/electro...

Because the electro I like is stuff like wumpscut/front242,...wich have indus influence and ebm,...

So maybe indus:

  • indus
  • electro indus ( or indus electro )

electro : depending on the indus tree

  • electro
  • electro -wave
  • electro-indus
  • commercial electro ( electro-house,...), but put this here or in the house tree...?

So some little overlappings, but you can be the judge ....

okay ...

"commercial" is not a musical style .. it's a state of mind :)

you can have commercial hiphop, commercial electro, commercial drum'n'bass etc..

F242 is EBM .. they invented the name of the genre ... EBM is both under electro and industrial

that's what I meant, so there's still room for some discussion there so best under indus or electro or under both...?

1/ because its both 4/4 beats and comes from techno? 2/ its all coming from ambient, no? its the start of it all imo 3/ well its beats with breaks  4/ the true experimental music is comparable to contemporary imo but then its only my opinion, people use too fast the word experimental

off course its just a fast draft, to discuss
