As was enunciated in the electrobel-v2 code specifications, the muzik styles/genres will bare a recursive tree structure.
As v2 was slightly rushed, and the style/genre new structure not considered robust enough, V2 was launched with the 1.5 version of the genres/styles.
Work was still being done on this structure, and seeing the recent events in the critics of musical genre choice (which have been a polemic since the launch of the v1 site), I spent a couple of hours to finish the new tree.
New Concept:
i can only speak for my styles were i'm a bit a home;
#house -deephouse -funkie-discohouse -elektro house -progressive -tech house -detroit
i think it schould be enuff for house, for 20 e-bel years,or did i forget anything
may be not so sure to put progressive in house, more like trance
#commercial -dance -trance -progressive
will think about it,cause this was written in a hurry, anyone else can correct me,or better ideas, lets go
:D
electro - oldschool electro - chiptune - electrobass - electropop - electroclash techno - rave - acid - minimal - detroit - hardcore - gabber ambient - electronica - idm - soundtrack jungle - drum&bass - breakcore house - acid - deep - electrohouse breakbeat - triphop - downbeat trance - goa - progressive - jumper industrial - ebm - noise hiphop - abstract hiphop jazz - nu jazz - rock - folk - pop dub - reggae - remixes - humour disco - italo disco - disco house - contemporary - experimental - crossover
first is main genre, then you have subdivisions lets keep it > 10 sub-styles for each main genre
hardcore & gabber in techno ?
idm and electronica in Ambient ?
triphop and downbeat in breakbeat ?
experimental in contemporary ?
not quite sure about those rantferox :)
cestqui : progressive trance and progressive house is the same thing ???
Dub:
There is 1 point I find a bit difficult, and that's indus/electro...
Because the electro I like is stuff like wumpscut/front242,...wich have indus influence and ebm,...
So maybe indus:
electro : depending on the indus tree
So some little overlappings, but you can be the judge ....

okay ...
"commercial" is not a musical style .. it's a state of mind :)
you can have commercial hiphop, commercial electro, commercial drum'n'bass etc..
F242 is EBM .. they invented the name of the genre ... EBM is both under electro and industrial
that's what I meant, so there's still room for some discussion there so best under indus or electro or under both...?

1/ because its both 4/4 beats and comes from techno? 2/ its all coming from ambient, no? its the start of it all imo 3/ well its beats with breaks  4/ the true experimental music is comparable to contemporary imo but then its only my opinion, people use too fast the word experimental
off course its just a fast draft, to discuss
Like a real master he solved the problem... Way to go man, thats why you run this shit i guess....
as for the genres: a couple "less" known ones (wich i did NOT create myself, thx):
-Lo-fi Electro -Minimal Pop -Techdub -Tech House -Sad-Electronics -Clicks'n Cuts -Indietronic -Microhouse -Porn Groove -Post Rock -Noise -Glitch -Eurodisco -Disco Nouveau -Chill Out -Chemical Beats -Bossatronics -...
iam sure i forgot a few...but this is a start i guess :D sources are the unnameable number of netlabels around this earth nut ...
