I have this problem from the day i've bought my microkorg I've connected my laptop to my microkorg with the es Romeo midi connector I see that they communicate when i start the microkorg editor But when i change sounds with the editor it doesn't change my korg. Can somebody explain how to put your setup of the microkorg I've put of the memory protection of my microkorg So don't know what goes wrong Now i own a mac and run in os tiger But i've installed OS 9 classic and run the program in os 9 'coz the program doesn't excist for OS X and they will never make it. I see options to send and receive midi but they aren't lit so i can use them. Do i have to change my midi prefences in OS 9?
does something work on your mac,it seems a lot goes wrong on yours;
is your soundcard already optimal?cause it can come from a couple of reasons;
midichannel on your microkorg mdichannel in software soundcardsettings-driver;
man,i'm even questioning your 220volts at home,small details can have great causes;
thats now a benefit for a mac,there are lots of people that can help you,beeing sarcastic 8o

I know what you mean if you see my posts and questions C'est qui. Never had a mac before And i don't know anybody in my neighbourhood who ownes a mac or knows anything about producing music or using hardware to produce music. Everything i know untill know I have learned with searching on forums, dlding pdf-formats, my own instructionmanuals of my hardware etc... I live in Waterschei (Genk) 300 m from the stadion of KRC Genk (btw forth place at the moment whii) If you know what kind of people live there, you can figure it out that no one has some knowledge in the lack of knowledge i have. If i would know somebody who know little about mac or FM synthesis etc... I would be a lot further in my technical knowledge of producing I have to find everything myself so it takes a little bit more time. But the fact what you've said about the voltage could be thrue. i'm not an electrician but i've also thought a few times if this could be a problem. when i lit the lights in the cellar (yeah i'm working in a stupid cellar,F$$cking sound) I hear some crackling sounds through my speakers. As for my soundcard it's A okay I've had some problems with it in the past (laptop pc with firewire) But since i have my mac it's not a problem anymore.
Big problem on my mac at the moment is that i have OS tiger and most of the prog's are made for the os till panther. gonna have to wait to dl some free shit.
The posts i've sended mattering ableton live is solved. I've bought last week the original and all problems where rightaway gone. like snow for the sun ;-)
So the only problem i have at the moment is that i can't use my microkorg to change it sound with a computer Doesn' matter pc or mac I have both and the lack of knowledge at the moment to use ableton in all his aspects.
Nothing is an excuse but when i don't know a thing And i don't find it myself on inet or whatever I just ask it on forum.

Hi FM7, how do you use the midi ports, by USB or by an external sound card ? I've meet lot of problems to connect my keyboards on a iBook (a friend of mine with another midi controller on another iBook too !!) If you're using OS9 into OSX I think you've to use "OMS midi Setup" it's a software to manage the midi controllers. But it's a fact that using OS9 on the OSX is a real sh*t.

If i would know somebody who know little about mac or FM synthesis FM-synthesis basicz is not so hard. Each oscillator can be a carrier or modulator. Algorythms are nothing more than presets of combinations therein.
A carrier holds the basic sound, a modulator modulates it. Modulators can modulate other modulators! So in a typical yamaha six operator you can have combinations of 2 modulators each modulating 2 carriers or 5 modulators modulating 1 carrier, etc. You can detune, redirect and other things to modulators which mostly create the typical "iron" FM sound. :))
I know a little bit more than the basis of fm modulation, it's sometimes hard to make sound I "hear" in my head. Don't know which waveform to take eg a sawtooth etc... to make let's say a bellsound, piano, string etc It will progress in time for shure. Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info I've seen something about oms midi gonna look on net and install it and together with Kaoz's info it should work
Don't know which waveform to take eg a sawtooth
i've learned this 6 yearz ago, but seem 2 have forgotten. i remember sawtooth for stringz, square for trumpetz, sinez for pianoz... i guess it shouldn't be hard to find this info somewhere online, i usely start off with a preset to edit it...
good luck on the mac-issue!
if you want to use peripherics and external gear with non X apps, don't use classic but boot in OS9 (if you can...)
TRUE! I've got to do the same to install my peripherics, OS 9 with OS X is not good !!
