Public use of Ebel music???

But yeah its kind of harsh to just say "Hey lets use his song without even telling him !"

But is it better for people to play your music on the radio without telling you, or not play it at all ? thats the question your should ask yourself ;)

sometimes radioplaylists are made the morning before the show, and there's little time to start contacting everyone ... + imagine the extra workload it generates ... having to send mails to different artists, etc...

** imagine how registered artists feel when people share their music on the net instead of buying the cd ;) **

the whole point of the CC licence, is to establish a basic CAN DO / CAN'T DO policy, so things are clear to what can be done with the song without artist authorisation

so he didn't have to ask permission, but i admit he could have sent a small msg or comment saying he played your track on his show :)

to love a song is one thing, to respect the artist is another one. if your pround of your tracks dont let them shooting down the artists behind the song.dont let them take without permission Peopz who take our music without askin have no respect. thats my point of view. and so what? because our music need listeners everybody can use it as they wish? :O

i don't really agree. when you put your music on the internet volonteerly, you know that everybody can listen and use your music. there is a CC-licence because people would get away with your music and tell it is theirs (steal it), and that those people wouldn't make money with your music. but when someone plays you music for some people because he likes it, it would idd be nice to tell the artists "heyo dude, younow what? i played your track yesterday, and they all liked it!". but i don't think that guy really needs to ask for permission to play it, otherwise you shouldn't have posted it on the net. i understand your point, because you're proud of your work, your babies, and you wanna know what happens with them. but when you see in a dj's/radiomaker's position, it would be a lot of useless work to ask every CC-liceced artist if he is allowed to play the music ('cause those artist will say YEEHEHEEEESSS anyway - you would be stupid to say no :p). i'm planning to make a semiliveset, and many ebel-tracks will be included (played, but also sampled, twisted and bended); then do i really need to ask all the artists for their permission? it is not for commercial use, just for demo's, etc.. me myself, i totally don't care if people play it without asking permission. when i get to know that people play them, i would be very happy, so why being angry then? it is a better compliment than a tumb-up-vote :D

in that case you have to see if the user agreed to derivatives or not ... and if not, ask them if you can :)

To me it's just about being polite. For instance, this evening on Breaxity i am going to air a part of the set Fractional did @ Beursschouwburg a while ago. I know his music from Ebel, so i asked if i could play some on the show, preferrably a mix he did. He pointed me out this set on his site. I contacted Fractional about this a while ago to make an agreement on what part of the set he would like to have aired, so that he himself can make the choice about what music he made i can use. My opinion is that if you're into radio you should have a certain ethical code about stuff like this.

oh, and also this: When one of your tracks is going to be aired, wouldn't you want to hear the show??? And tell your friends to listen (yeah the ego thang 8) )???

i'm having mixed feelingz about this...

it's cool 2b played on the radio, but i think it's a small effort to mail the artist... i don't care if userz download my trackz, on the contrary, the more people like it, the better...

i wouldn't be happy though if i would find my trackz being abused for commercial purposes (in my case barely impossible, but still...)

for this reason i am a member of sabam and i hope they will protect me in case of abuse...

i think it's not an effort to say somebody that you've played his track. It takes much more time to create a track then to contact the person. Offcourse i would be glad if they played it, as long as they refer to me and ebel

what show was it, there s a chance i know the guys who did this and mayebe they are willing to play every week the best new songs from e-bel (free promotion)
