Mac vs Pc

save urself some money, it is all the same

• sound depends on your soundcard
• mac uses au not vst so no, not every vst has its mac version
• fruityloops doesn't run on mac

but u can run windows perfectly on mac, in wich u can use all this aswel... so... it is all the same

i see,  good thing that i posted my questions here ^^ got some serieus rethinking to do since fruity is my main production software, and if i'm getting a mac i would certainly not put windows on it that's just a waste imo, better buy something else then..

yes, but then why use a mac? for lower performance when you're using bootcamp anyway? If FL is your main thing, don't go to mac. FL is my main thing too and if it would work on mac I'd change within the day. BUT think about ableton and the stability of a mac. Now that makes me doubt too.

truth is that it's almost critical that i start properly using ableton for my solo sets since its better then live mode in fruity. but the other side of the story is offcourse that fruity is my main DAW although i can still make stuff with fruity using bootcamp and then export the produced loops and sounds to ableton running on OS. still doubting. the reason i want mac is because of the stablity, got real probs with my fairly new (less then a year old) laptop with XP, even though it is a pretty powerfull laptop (things like, can't properly run 2 fruity's for example or fruity "hanging" when i'm opening certain things or doing stuff that's apparantly to demanding for Xp, even though my laptop is still a 2,2ghz dual intel, 3gb ram.

then again that doesn't even matter since fruity still needs windows...

don't buy a Vaio, I've bought one 2 years ago, I spend LOTS of time making Vista work faster, starting up faster etc.. because standard it's REALLY SLOW. It's not possible installing Windows XP on my Vaio simply because there are no XP drivers for my model (VAIO VGN NR11Z) I also had some problems with Vista compatibility and drivers. But I must say once installed, software like Ableton, Reason & Audition runs smoothly most of the time. Some software and vst's do not work on Vista. After two years my left mouse button doesn't work any more ( I use tapping now) , audio line out kraakt and the volume button is broke.  I had to work on Mac for school, so I bought a MacBook Pro 15" 2,4 Ghz (4.1 version) last year and I'm very satisfied with it. Especialy the workflow is really great. My mac doesn't get stuck as much as Windows, working with Leopard is way more fun then Windows. The design and screen quality are super. Only my Mac has Bluetooth, Firewire, Apple remote and very handy power adapter. Soundwise I don't think the quality is better on Mac, I even found my mac audio output sounding worse then my Vaio ouput and if you use an external soundcard this doesn't matter at all.. DBlueglitch doesn't work on Mac but you have lots of cool glitch plugins for mac like Artillery, Effectrix etc... and you can find LOTS of cracks only for Mac ( check sugarbytes bundle and audio damage vst for instance) Fruityloops doesn't work on Mac I think, only if your run Bootcamp. Ableton and Reason run almost the same on Mac as on Windows. A mac disadvantage is they become REALLY hot, that's why they don't call them LAPtop anymore, you can get severe fire wounds! Btw I still use both laptops, but most of the time my Mac , I use my Vaio for finishing old projects with non mac vst's like that Waves Bundle crack, Drumatic and DBlueglitch

i wasn't going to buy a vaio ^^ just used it as an example :)

probably because they make it entirely out of alluminum, bummer though, can it get so hot that the circuits burn? i mean in 1 long session, not over a large time period

Apple says this hot temperature is normal, it doens't damage anything (except your lap), this also happens with the Macbooks which have no aluminium casings
