Hi! I'm getting a bit used to reason 3 and also to it's limits, I think it's time to get on with some other programs. The idea is to work with a combination of reason cubase and cool edit pro. I found out how to start reason in cubase, but that's nearly all. I was thinking about making loops in reason, editing them in cool edit and combine and master everything in cubase, but i don't know if this is the best method.. So i'm looking for some advice tips or handy tutorials..

If anyone can help a hand i'd be most grateful! :D

Well, I don't use reason, but the final mix and master process is a bit the same everywhere I assume...

I use FL6, I render (bounce) different parts of a song (like: percussion, snares, bass and kicks, leads, efx, ...) in different wav files and then I go to cooledit. In cooledit I use the multitrack option. Did you know you can use vst plugins in cooledit too? (like waves) The graphic equalizer of cooledit is very good too cause it goes all the way down to -90db (quite exceptionnal). So once in cooledit I basicly mix the lot of and I got a premastered version. Yu can mixdown to 1 wav file too if you feel like doing some mastering yourself (I personnaly suck at mastering because the lack of gear and soundengineer capabilities, I stick to multibandcompressing, compressing, getting out peaks and adjusting RMS and stereofield).

well

i use reason, and i do this in combination with logic express, wich i use as "host" soft. i create sounds and patterns in reason wich i then record directly into logic to finish them off and to do the mastering ... Logic also offers the ability to use vst, wich is pretty handy and gives you more posiibilities i use logic, but ableton live can do the exact same things and so does cubase, i think (idont use cubase).... in combination with refills and home made loops and sounds, possibilities r endless.....

well yeah, it's the same with cubase... if you export as wav you can do this with your reason-track only (4 example) you can even edit in cubase... i use soundforge btw

personally, i rather export the whole song (reason+vst+whatever) at the end, i don't see why i should take an inbetween-step, but everybody works different of course...

you could perfectly keep editing in CoolEdit, play it with reason and master it with cubase without really having to import the loop or sample into cubase...
