remixing
Help neededSince a lot of bootlegs/remixes are showing up on electrobel (which is nice), I'm wondering if any of you remix0rz have any tips'n'trix concerning the whole process. I'm been giving it a shot now and then myself, with either an accepella version I downloaded somewhere, or by trying to but some extra beats and sounds over an existing loop (I'm not into the 'mix-a-rif-with-an-accepella-thing' really).
What I mainly do is cut out some bars/loops from the original song, and try to match that with whatever I want to be doing. Pure accepela's are a bitch for this, cause it's hard to find the beginning & endings of bars without a beat imo. And in the other case, with a plain loop from a tune, it's sometimes hard to get your own stuff to fit on top of it, if the beats are quantized off a bit, or you didn't cut the loop just right.
Cutting up a tune in bars looks like the easiest way to do it though, cause getting the bpm exactly right to have something play along with an mp3 for instance, seems even harder.
It would be interesting to know how some of you did your remixes. So come on, spill it!! :D

Since three weeks I've begun a remix of Christina Aguilera - Dirrrty For this I've pick the accapella on k-a-z-a-a up , and simply count the bpm lolll
Don't understand why you say : "Pure accepela's are a bitch for this, cause it's hard to find the beginning & endings of bars without a beat imo"... when a singer sing :p he's singing on a precies bpm , just counting when he or she sing and it's okay ...
Well , it's like that I made remixes like "Diva" and "Dirrrty" , this last isn't finished but soon ...

depends on the singer/song, I noticed some start on an offbeat, or sometimes they start a few ticks before the actual bar, which really makes it harder to cut right

It's not that hard to match the lyrics on your own beats if you match them with a multitrack wave editing tool, like vegas audio. I do my bootlegs with vegas, and it allows me to stretch , cut, pitch, re-arrange, copy, paste the lyrics the way i wan't it to match my track. for sure, it ain't as easy as sampling a kickdrum, but you have to listen a lot of times to get it right.

yeah, they often start slightly early. Good way is to get the acapella and the original .. and Just sync your song to the original, then you can add the acapella neatly on top :)

you can find them on k-a-z-a-a for example , you type accapella and you see a big big list ;)

check your favorite peer to peer network I'd say, there's ussually tons of accapella's to be found, be sure to spell accapella in a variety of ways(acapella accapela...) , cause not everyone knows how to spel it (I'm not sure I even know how :) )
