I'm in one of those moods when I think all the music I ever made is total crap and that I'll never be able to cope with the "real" artists.
Does it sound familiar to anyone. Any tips?
"songwriters block" happens to me every three months... the only remedy I found was changing style or trying out new styles!
I just wait and it eventually comes back
Usually I have a little inpirational depression after each "good" song i make !
and so i wait and it comes back !
Yep, know it, hapens a lot. Specially after steamrehearsing before gigs or after playing parts again and again for recording or mixing.
I just try something else for a while, drawing, writing collumns, stories, some gaming... Then I find out I suck even more at that and take my bass or switch on my gear and refind joy in making music.
It's just a question of not overdoing it a guess... and sure, after hearing your own song for a 1000 times, it might sound boring orso... just post it on ebel, if anyone thinks it suck, they WILL tell you!!
couldn't agree more... hearing your latest songs over and over again can put some serious doubts into your head
if you've been composing for a while, it might help to listen to one of your earlier works...
or put your mind on something else for a while
ohw... and if you where fishing for compliments ;) i don't think all the music you made is total crap
(though it's not really my type of thing)
when it happens - (often) - , i don't compose anymore but go further with exploration of my tools. those depression periods are prolific for designing new synth presets and experimenting in every directions without any idea of where to go... just sit and wait ;o)
I know the feeling...I get it everytime I listen to a great track on e-bel. Then I'm like "Why the hell can't I make things like that!!!" And then I realise that I'm only half as talented as the majority of e-bell posters...so it's OK for me to make crap...'cause it's the best I can!!
Some people have musical talents...I sure don't...I've been playing basketball for about 20 years now and I'm pretty friggin' good at it...so I'll give my music another 20 years to evolve...LOOOL :D
My only tip is: try to make it fun again...most good music comes when your enjoying yourself

I definately agree, but not with the crap-music part!! :D
For my concern. I'm having a writers block right now, so I let it rest untill something new comes up. Can take maybe a year or so I dunno!! We'll see!

There's no such thing as a real artist or a fake one (well, maybe fake ones can be argued, but a real 'real' one...).
And your work is not bad, far from it.
the more crap u make, the greater the chance u'll stumble upon a great idea!
like children, songz need to grow and ask a lot of time...
don't give up, artistz (real or fake) mostly have their best momentz in timez of suffer
be influenced by otherz, even steal, but don't compare... there's alwayz greener grass and less greener
maybe a tip: start your sequencer, program a few notez and twiddle the knobz, who knowz what might happen???
