Recording audio output in vista
Help neededAs some of you might know, since vista servicepack 2 its impossible (as far I know) to use a program to record you audio output with.
I used to do it with audacity on XP, and in vista you're suposed to able to do it through preferences, but I can only select my in-build microphone (so yeah, it sounds like crap)
now I wonder if anyone knows how to do this right? I'm planning on recording a live. I allready recorded it by rewiring my pc's output signal to my mixer (mengpaneel, you know, for pick-ups) and then putting it back into my microphone entrance, but sound qualtiy is UBERcrap
so eum, help me plz^^ if anyone knows a prog to make it possible or a way to decrease the zooming I got by rewireing....

It's disabled way down on driver level and very hard to turn back on.
You could try using the wormwhole (http://www.plasq.com/wormhole) plugin using the feedback ip adress (127.0.0.1).
If you're using live, you could just hit record and bounce down the wav later.

The cool thing about recording to arrangement view in live is that it has very limited overhead. It's just recording midi events and automation. If you record to a new clip, you're actually writing audio to the disk all time, which is much more resource intensive, especially if you're on a slow laptop hd.

ah in that case. i always have all my gear connected to my soundcard, so all the aound goes into ableton for extra fx and the correct delaycompensation

That's on option as well, then you can record into the box. You've probably got a soundcard with lots of io's then. I only have a stereo in so for me it's not really an option :)
i have the same problem, cant find a input to record from in vista, except the ultra crappy built in mic, and i do my livesets in fruityloops have done like 8 or so with this pc and couldnt record any opf them :(
