Altitude 1000 Parties
The festival features two supercharged nights during which local and international producers, DJs and VJs will occupy the Recyclart venue for a true 'Brussels by night' experience.
09.12.2006: Altitude 1000 opening party - presented by Foton, Cimatics and Meakusma
Sound:
LORY D - live act (Rephlex, Sounds Never Seen, IT) This mysterious techno visionary from Rome is an ex Italian D.M.C champion who has been playing since 1989 and owns the seminal Roman techno label Sounds Never Seen. He was one of the first people to bring the Acid House and Hardcore sounds of London to Rome, where he is regarded as something of a god. His dark blend of electroid tweaking and old skool percussion produces killer dancefloor moves in the darkest possible way. Together with Marco Passarani and Rephlex label-mates, Leo Anibaldi Bochum Welt and the D'Arcangelo brothers, Lory D best represents the sound of Italy, or even the 'sound of Rome', since 1991.
PUB - live act (Ampoule, Delsin, Vertical Form, UK) Pub has been releasing music under the Moped Endo, Lucky & Easy, Omen's Jot and Pub monikers on Ampoule, Vertical Form and Delsin since 1998. On Ampoule each of his projects has destinctive angles and quirks, creating a unique world of unimitable sound, from Basic Channel on acid to twisted hardcore acidfunk lunacy for the dancefloor. At Recyclart Pub will perform amongst others his forthcoming release "The Sekatuo Ton". Pub also has some of his earlier recordings featured on the new forthcoming DVD to be released on Ampoule later this year. Link: Ampoule
PETER VAN HOESEN aka VANNO - live act (Foton, Lan Muzic, BE) The man behind the Vanno alter ego and a heavily plugged 12" on Berlin's upcoming Lan Muzic label. It's back to base for one of Brussels' most active artists: fast, stripped down and deconstructed techno with a healthy obsession for mutant rythms and dark subbass. His live sets explore the mutant territory between techno and breaks, with a distinct experimental approach. Next to his recent Lan Muzic 12", Peter has released on Foton, Backroom records and Sound of Habib. The musical output of his Object alias continues to grow with a recent web-only release 'Remote Review EP' on Foton. Links: T2X / Foton
UCTURE - live act (Ambivalence, BE) Ucture was 16 when he met Bourlion the Great and his fabulous turntable band. And the Great said to him : "Hou hi wawha humbatatara!". So he understood that the most beautiful sounds are locked inside cheap metallic boxes and bottles of sulphuric acid. Then he decided to record his childhood vibes - this resultet in incredible bassline experiments. When he was 25, he started to release material from the past on Ambivalence rec. - officially approved by prehistoric monsters. Today, he produces mysterious hidden sounds. A new CD is on its way. EWO (BE) Ewo is first and foremost a visual artist. After leaving paint and pencils behind, she arrived at the logical conclusion to use digital technology for the production of her art. She started using the computer as a means to manipulate images as if they were paintings, creating collages of childhood memories and blossoming springs. The results are presented through her videos for various electronica artists such as Deru, Loden, Troubleshooter, Port- Royal, Greetings From Tuskan and Vector Lovers. She also performs live alongside artists such as Arovane, Isan and Bauri and is founder of Plexiphonic. Links: Plexiphonic - Iwari
VISUAL KITCHEN (BE) Visual Kitchen started in the late nineties as a collective focusing on live video mixing and is considered one of the pioneers in Belgian VJ-history. In the early days the main activities aimed for the dance floor, with a residency at the Brussels' Cybertheatre, collaborations with mayor Belgian dance-events (10daysOff, I Love Techno, Groovecity) and a long track record of underground performances (RephlexNight, Seats'n'Beats). An 'artist in residency'-status at 'Concertgebouw' in Bruges in 2003 was a turning point in the artistic approach, opening up the horizons towards all kinds of different musicians to play with and acquiring a personal set of semantics in performing. They set themselves a new standard with interpretations of the K.H. Stockhausen score 'Pole für 2' for dual MX50 with feedback or the visual adaptation of the original audiotape that accompanied the 'Laborintus II' opera by L.Berio. In 2003 Visual Kitchen joined forces with Les P'tits Belges for the organization of the annual Cimatics AV festival. The Cimatics Platform offers a wide spectre of activities within the fields of vj'ing and live audiovisual performances, with the festival as the key focus point. Link: Visual Kitchen

MIKE PARADINAS AKA MU-ZIQ - dj set (Planet Mu, UK) The name 'µ-Ziq' was first on the list when it came to Mike Paradinas choosing a tag to accompany his debut release on Rephlex in 1993. And no wonder. Pronounced simply "music" not only is it all-encompassing but it also serves as the only logical way to describe the multi-faceted and unique new sounds he's conjuring up at any given time. His debut album "Tango n' Vectif" has old over 60,000 copies worldwide and launched him on an international career as a forward-thinking producer and DJ. His Planet Mu label is one of the leading innovative electronic labels of today, incorporating diverste styles such as techno, breakcore and dubstep into a solid catalogue. Paradinas also operates under a variety of pseudonyms such as Jake Slazenger (Warp), Tusken Raiders (Clear) and Kid Spatula (Reflective), and has collaborated with Luke Vibert, Richard "Aphex Twin" James and Jochem Paap (Speedy J). ACID KIRK - dj set (Subliminal Toy Crash, Ambivalence, BE) Pioneer of the Belgian underground techno scene since 1992. He was o.a. part of the legendary BWP dj coalition. Acid Kirk released many acid techno EP's on several labels. During the mid 90's he changed his style towards a more experimental version of electronic music. This lead to several releases under different project names such as The Syncopated Elevators Legay and Encephaloïd Disturbances. In 1999 he co-founded the 'Elf Cut' label, through which he released his music until 2002. Since then he's been involved with Ambivalence Records and his new Subliminal Toy Crash project. A true electronic knight with a rich past, one of Brussels' electronic music scene key figures. Links: Ambivalence
ANTZ - dj set (Foton, BE) If those legs do not twist, those legs must be dead. If that booty does not shake, that booty must be dead. If that head does not bang, that head must be dead. Antz guarantees you a schizoid party set, loaded with energy: from punky psychobilly to twisted techno, from mutant electro to happy drill'n'bass. Breaks, beats ... more breaks, more beats ... Link: Foton
HARRY POPPINS - live act (Electrobel, BE) Brussels-based Harry Poppins has been making electronic music for 8 years. Rather then labeling every song he has made let's just stick to Umbrelladelika! as an overall label for his outrageous tunes. He has released one track on Electric Puke records and an EP on breakcore.dk. For the Altitude 1000 closing party Harry will bring u a special Raggajunglerave set. Supercalifragilistikjungalistik! LEGOMAN (CH/BE) "With a background in graphic design and a passion for electronical music and digital melodies, I've been involved in VJing since the end of the year 2003. This activity allows me to combine my two passions: music and graphic design. My aim is to create live an osmosis of the music and the visuals. My sets are in constant evolution. 98% of what I usually mix is made up of my creations, which become enriched weekly. I try to diversify my video sessions in different graphic types but keep my own style. My inspiration comes from various artistic movements; from animation movies to web-design, from Russian constructivism to music videos, from experimental cinema to graffiti."
