today i worked on some live-files for next saturday @ rector. everything worked well, till i exported my channels into seperate samples to save cpu. there is a difference of at least 120ms in timing between the wav-files and the audio i hear from reason, which is midi-controlled. i use asio4all, and since i installed that, my sound stutters from time top time due to lack of cpu-power, even though i exported all the heavy channels into wav. today i even added 512 mb ram, but it still stutters sometimes when triggering a midi-fille (in ableton, rewired to reason, so reason plays sounds, controlled by ableton). logically, i tried to switch back to the "old" driver instead of asio4all, but now i have to set it to 150ms to get no broken sound, where it used to be only 11ms before i installed asio4all... it is only 3 days ahead from lektrofest, so in other words: HEELLLEEUUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edit: i can imagine that this prob is very ridiculus and possibly easy to solve, but i'm now too stressed and udner pressure to think clearly (still got sooo much to do :( )
relax ;-)
try these settings with asio4allv2 (it is v2 you are using is it?)
ASIO Buffer Size = 96 Samples
Latency Compensation In: 16 Samples Out: 16 Samples
Check the Use Hardware Buffer
Buffer Offset: 5ms
Uncheck the AC97 Troubleshooting (unless you have an AC97 in which case you should try unchecked first, and if it doesn't work check them)
In Reason, set the buffer size also to 96 samples
These setting should result in a latency of 7ms on a 2ghz amd64 system
It might be still not good for you, but it's a good starting point.
i tried everything, but with the thingsd u say, i got a major latency :( i press start and half a second later it starts. also: when i just play one audiosample, my cpu allready goes to 15 %!!! when i just play with some audio samples without any effects, i'm at 50%; my cpu is 3.5ghz, and i have 1ghz ram though!!! i just don't know what to do :( :( :(

k,this may be sound radical,but if i'm going through all the details,ya never got probs before,and dont know where to look;
ya got a few days to go,may be just format the bitch;
i have to format my pc too cause of a silly soft for my asus,each time i dare to install it,my fans going bazurk,no real problem,only more noise,but reaon enuff to asume something is fishy;
want to sleep tight,format it,just install whats needed for the live;may be defragment your pc,when it needs to load samps from some hd,its bettr when its going faster;

So...you're working on a project, made before...Then you tried some other drivers, did some installing & reinstalling? Your problem makes me think of some old projects I opened in with my new card/driver, but where made with an other one back in the dayz... Got glitches & crackles all over the place...
I don't think your ram & cpu are the problem here....But your drivers are.... I know I had to do a clean install on my muze pc because I changed my card/drivers & without that fresh install I kept having problems.
When you decide to format...You might consider a dual boot system. One fresh for mak'n muze & the other for all other purposes.
Sorry I can't be of more help...Hope you get those problems solved...
Good luck with it!
Grtz
have you tried a clean ableton/reason combo (no other vst's loaded)?
is the latency still that high with a standalone reason?
if so than i have to agree with the reinstalling option
you have a kick-ass system that normally would handle my proposed settings with ease (and can probably handle even tighter settings)
dual booting a music setup & a general purpose (erh... gaming ;-)) setup is an excellent idea too
hope you can get it working in time!

this afternoon i was a bit more relaxed, after eating sum.. and i noticed that the latency-prob is only in 1 project, where i use only a bassline and hihats from reason all the rest samples from ableton. i'll try just to remake the whole project in ableton and see what happens.
thnx for the tips! i'll definatly reinstall software and maybe even windows, but that will be for after saturday,. cause it is a hell lot of work in the very short time, while ( if really no other solution) i just play that song with the latency-problems on cd instead of live. i don't dare to do anything radical now, cause it can all go wrong. but i'll reinstall after saturday; i'm also tired of that pc goin' so slow since a couple of weeks...

Good for you! That kinda means that that file is corrupt or saturated somehow.... And not an heavy driver problem...Good luck with it! Grtz
