soundtrack contest resumé

The other thread has 51 replies, so I thought I'd make a resumé in case someone can't keep up with the posts.

There will be a new contest soon, the purpose is to compose a soundtrack to a short movie (3-4 minutes). However, keep in mind for your composition, and also in your voting judgment, it's not about making the best soundtrack pure in terms of music, it's about making a soundtrack that fits in the best with the short movie. So atmosphere, builds, tension, selection of samples, will be equally important to the musical idea itself.

You'll have 6 weeks to finish your soundtrack, after that there will be 2 weeks left to vote.

As with the other contests, all entries will be posted anonymously, so biased votes are excluded. Only after all votes have been cast, will the names of the authors be revealed.

Each contestor can enter a maximum of 2 songs.

Voting system is: points 1 to 6; 8; & 10 (for the best). You can vote for your own song(s), but with a total quota of 4 as highest mark for your own track(s).

Authorisation & stuff remains with ZARk, I'll ask him to put up a new section "soundtrack contest 2006" or something like that, once the movie has been selected.

We still have to make a final decision on which movie to use: Either Scootchy's, or Firefrog's, and maybe also GAZAAA will come up with one.

No precise date is set yet, but I assume the contest can be launched around the 15th of April.

Questions/remarks anyone?

Like I said, that ain't decided yet. Firefrog's making a movie, once it's finished (in about a week I guess), the contest can really begin. I hope Scootchy comes up with the link of his movie soon. The movie will be decided by a quick reply-and-vote. Majority out of first ten replies is decisive.

Just 6 weeks? That's not much... :! I'd love to participate but 6 weeks is not much when you have a job and all. Can't it be like 3 months or so?

I think 6 weeks is a feasable period... even with a job. A part of the challenge is of course that it's a race against the clock. If more people would like some more time too, then we can stretch it to 8 weeks I guess... but I'd say that really is the maximum. There's gotta be at least a minimum of a stress factor ;)

useless to say i'm in too...
personally i think 6 weeks should be enough...maybe the contest will reveal to be more difficult than thought... an extra two weeks could then be proposed.
