the TB 303, a synth probably everybody knows. it has such a popular typical sound a lot of clones were made after it's launch. Some say no clone can beat the original sound, and maybe that's true... This however doesn't mean you can't make acidlike music without TB imo. what is your favourite TB 303 clone? software? hardware? what are the pro's and contra's you've experienced? as a software adept, i used TS 404, ABL 2, Phoscyon (vst's) and Rebirth (standalone) TS 404 in FL Studio has a very raw sound, sometimes nice, often too screamy. ABL 2 is a nice one, however the resonance could be a lot better in my opinion. Phoscyon is a vst i discovered recently, and i must say i'm quite impressed... especially with the internal distortion it sounds very hardwarelike. Rebirth is a classic one, featuring, two tb clones, one TR 808 and one TR 909 clone. very nice sound, and you can rewire the program.

any adds or suggestions?

phosycon and bassline are greats with effects, rebirth is also a great (and cheap) solution but you must have the cd mounted in the cd player , I don't kow how xox box  and other clone really sounds but I think it's always better with a real tb or with other analog synths from early 80's like Sh 101, mc 202 enzovoord etc;

You probably checked that already, but ABL Pro (not 2) is also verrrrrrrrrrry good.  Instead of 4 knobs you got.. dozens :D Better sound too, you can also choose for different basses, leads, sequences, percussion.. For any kind of acid song you want to create :) Likes your CPU a lot though, but it's a big program... (Damn, I should've studied for marketing manager..)

i used ABL pro a couple of times, and i was a bit dissapointed...

i have to admit, mostly because a didn't understand the whole thing. too difficult to make decent acidsounds, and the fucking virtual cable thing is really not my cup of tea :)

Phoscyon is indeed one of the best  i think

i use phoscyon too, just hate the fact that its hard to control , i find it very hard to make the melodie that youve got in your head with it

i think that's the case with the most vsts... nonetheless, TB clones are often not that hard to use. a lot of stuff never changes, the rest is secondary shizzle.
