Hi, for those who know us from Ihecstival we'll be playing noise and other distorded sounds into the toilets of the dictapop festival (website )
Dictapop is an independant festival with good bands having their view of music. It's the third edition and this time there will be others bands to discover.
It's organized by only one man, so hail to him because he is working hard to make something really good musically, even if he lost money with it...
well.... once again we were the wrong men in the wrong place... peoples who love post-rock don't really enjoy experimental noisy music... once again we tried, once again we succeed :D
WE'LL MAKE YOUR EARS BLEEDING ! ! ! :p
As a general rule, postrock lovers are VERY openminded when it comes down to indie, postrock, noise, and anything out of the ordinary. It's when you play something that even smells a bit of commercialism that they don't like it.
Take a look at bands like Mogwai, 'real' postrockers like to take a piss on them now that more people like them. They prefer everything to stay underground usually.
we didn't play anything commercial, we didn't play anything know (well some merzbow or other zoviet france were there). the fact is that they didn't understand the concept and they didn't search to understand it. well when i say that post rockers don't enjoy experimental noisy music i lie because a little bit of them really appreciated what we did (something like 15 people on the 100 there) so thanks to those one that searched to understand and good luck to others if we meet again :p
It'll always be like that with experimental music. The fact is you'll only please a small amount of people. But you'll REALLY please them, and that's what really maters.
yep thats right! anyway if someone wants a show of toilet teenage robots in his party one day, can contact me ;) we'll think about it, all you need is an email !
elaba!
i wasn't there but i wouldn't talk in general terms of 'the postrockers'. there are as much close-minded people in the 'postrockworld' as in the ones that listen to more commercial music.
i for one, do appreciate mid-mogwai a lot, but not the old one nor the new one. so that must make me semi-underground? so.. it's rubbish. i've been to dictapop and there are a lot of wonderful people there, some just aren't interested in the dj-ing but more in the concerts.. and maybe it's too much music on one evening to be interested in both..
anyway; at least; the people who like postrock are the ones who look further than the radio or mtv. it's the same for people who like experimental noisy music.. so. i don't know :)
ps; i enjoy both :)
