What about giving all the people a fair change

well it's not always a question of popularity, but more often a question of 'activity'

users that comment a lot will get more comments and listens etc.... if you just post your songs and never come back, chances are you won't get a lot of feedback on your songs (but thats not always the case).

ebel is a community, the best way to get the most out of it, is to put the most into it :)

example: you've been here over a year, and this is your first post in the forum. also you've written 26 comments, and listened to 114 songs ... the last song you listened to was on the 17th of may.

on the other hand your tracks have been listened to for a total of 890times. so basically you gave ebel 1, ebel gave you 8 :)

thats not too bad.

Anyway, to get back on topic.. ebel is a community, only way a community can work is if everyone is giving a little. Besides i can't really think of a system to make things more "fair". New module soon that will show songs that didn't get the attention they deserved. (but you'll have to wait till july for that one ;) )

yeah owkay i agree with what you are saying but you say when you comment a lot you get comments back, is that fair?! I mean then you judge on how many comments did he or she get?! And isn't it all about the song?!

the same problem when you are a girl and u make songs bam a lot of people will listen, even tho she hasn't comment very often...

the only way would be to put all entries anonymous :) and even then ....

i was only taking your example to take an example :)

but if you have any suggestions to a system or anything, don't hesitate to suggest it.. i'm open to all critics, as long as you help me to find a better system :)

soon in the song detail page there will be a "if you liked this song you will like : ...." and a list of 3/4 songs from other artists.

don't u think it is a bit selfisch to say: i want u all to comment on my tracks, but don't expect me to be active on this community, i'm just a member to get feedback on my tracks, not to be social with other artists... srry, but that's the impression you give me.

in the realy world, you also won't get any attention if you don't do effort for it. so commenting to get comments sounds really fair to me

sometimes it happend that a really good song dont get the respect she disurves, it happend ... but certainly, if you dont invest urself in the community you wont have same hits and feedbacks that another electrobel geek spendin all his night here... :))

the more hands one shakes, the more chance one becomes president... or one can use his/her looks to become playmate of the year... this world just isn't fair... if you keep waiting for justice you'll wait a lifetime...

the ebel system is just fine, i think... can you look in the mirror and say you returned to an artist (user) when you disliked one of his songs?? (i can btw) give and thou shall recieve...

I think this is actually totally fair; It's not a dumping ground for your material and then twiddling your thumbs for a record contract or whatever you wish for from your music; If you are going to actively contribute in a clear and intelligent fashion to the comment page of other artists, it stands to reason both the artist and people reading your comment will listen to your songs to have a better idea of who you are and where your point comes from.

Well, I wouldn't see the point, You have one profile picture and only text and songs; Sure, there'll be more people sending you messages or making comments, but I think most musicians are mature enough to focus on your work, not your anatomy ;)

Personally, I don't post any songs and I haven't been keeping track who in here is male or female; But when I do listen to a track, it's usually from someone making a good point in a thread I'm reading. It's already a jungle of songs in here, climbing through them would give me a hernia.

In all honesty, if you are so concerned that people will judge you for being a girl and you only want a clear and objective opinion about your songs...you might want to change your profile picture, for a start.
