I'm looking for these microphones: Beyerdynamic M380Bruel&Kjaer DPA 4011Coles / STC 4038Earthworks Z30XJosephson e22Josephson c42Lomo 19a-9Lomo 19a-18
mmh, what's this? free html-course... i'd go for the sennheiser e914 (condensator, not for live-use)
Sorry for html, I don't know why it post it like this ... Forget Sennheiser e914, it's a piece of shit! For the M380, I like it because of its characteristics and its particular sound. It's excellent on bass guitar amplifiers, string bass, also usefull for taming the transient edge of metallic percussion like glockenspiel, xylophone, struck bells and other metallophones.

i'll have to disagree on that...
I don't like Sennheiser e914 because it has a very bad response to very fast transients & has no clarity in the bass-medium frequencies. And please please please no sm57!!! Compare it with Beyer M201 ... if the sm57 were a microphone, it would sound like this.

i don't understand, a mic seems not to be perfect. It's just a question of tast and of what you are recording, sm57 can be very good sometimes. there is classic like u87 or else but this is just because there fonctionality is "Tucked into the mores" (rentrée dans les moeurs)

That's a more understandable explanation. However, i use it on vocals (studio) and i have never heard a clearer mic in its price-range. It's often too clear: on recorded tracks, i can hear trains and birds in the distance!
Anyway, good luck in finding that Beyer!
