Refills opener

i've asked my good friend toby from tobybear.de

The Refill format was created for the very reason (pun Smile ) that the compiled file cannot be extracted later by other software. This gives sampling cd companies a better marketing position as the files can only be used within Reason. I am not too fond of this myself, but it is very unlikely that a (legal) Refill-decompiler will come out, unless the Propellerheads publish documentation of the file format, which they will definitely not do in near future...

there's a buggy refill unpacker out there, but you will need to have reason 3 installed to get it working & it crashes half the time

ok, i found a system in the browser of Reason.

• I group all my reason refills in 1 directory.
• Than ask to search for extentions like all NN-19 .smp files.
• I create a favorite directory for the NN-19ies and drop all the founded files in it.
• all files are ordered by name or parent category and the list is also shown in the instruments browser too.

is that a picture of the Virus Indigo TDM plugin ? :p

why do ya need it for anyway,is it to use with sx,then rewire the shit,and export it to wave;

and if ya want to catalog the refills,wich i done years ago,i've done it like this

-combinations(means all sorts of devices in 1refill,rex,nnxt;subtractor,etc) -rex-nnxt(rex and nnxt) ____rex(only rex) ____nnxt(only nnxt)

-subtractor ___downloaded ___own patches

-combinators ___downloaded ___own patches

-drumrefills(mostly 1 hit samples)

and since its all new browser in 3.0,you gain a lot of time about searchin not found refills

and if ya make music,you have to be a bit patient,to find the wright sound-sample,sx is even wurse in that;it all comes to makin good structures in your samples or refills;

not to many not to few,like the genres we did on e-bel;

each has to decide how to work,i just givin my strategy,order is the key

cheers 8o 8o 8o hmmm,....... order...... intuition is more my kind of key. i just want a pad, a bass or a soundfx when i want. The hasard makes me take one i don't know and surprise & ableton do the rest....

no, it's a background for the Indigo Combinator..... just saw for the first time that it's possible to put some pix in the post now, :) cool !
