i ve got a sound problem. when i listen to mp3's with high peaks, the sound gets fucked up (sounds like heavy compression, bitreduction and a phaser) the same file in .wav sounds allright. is it my sound card (UA-25) or bad drivers or something else? thanks
what are you reading your sound with ? are you reading the .wav with the same player ?
how very odd :)
i know i had an issue with a soundcard where the soundmixer when on maximum would be over the soundcard's maximum, and sound would always clip.
is the .wav the original file and the .mp3 encoded from it ? or is the .wav file the decoded .mp3 ?
if it's the second, then i'm dazzled :)

.wav original when i decode the mp3 that wave sounds terrible too
then it's your mp3 encoder that amplifies ^^ try winLAME :)
winlame encodes okay but the problem isn t over, because some mp3's i have (not my songs) sound terrible too.
