sound engine Ableton 5 and 6
Help neededSince i've bought me Ableton 5 last year I always have the feeling that the sound engine of it isn't good. I mean everything sounds faded Example I render a track from ableton and listen it with a player on my computer The sound is good and what i heard when i produced it in Ableton When i take this file and import it back into my ableton i notice i misses a lot of the sound's richnes and a lot more Last i tried it out with a simple drumloop i've made in ableton I bounced it out and re imported it into ableton and it sounded real crappy again i opened the file with itunes and realplayer and the drumloop sounded how it should be So i took this sample into Garageband (a free program) and it sounded also as it should be So my question is the sound engine crap of Ableton When i open my audio unit (vst) as a stand alone version and i listen to the same as it is openend in ableton I hear that the stand alone version's sound is again warmer and richer of sound I have a Edirol FA101 24 bit 196khz I don't think that's the problem

basically you are comparing the realtime audio rendering of ableton live with it's export audio engine ?
the test you need to do : load a loop into live, export it to a new loop. compare the original loop to the one you just exported.
you cannot compare the sound that comes from the realtime "play" of live against the sound that comes out with the export feature.
(look how much of your cpu is taken when you are playing in live, against the amount of cpu an time it takes to render your track ... )
are your samplerates and bitdepths set right? i mean: if u export in 32bit 48000 and then import it to a session where it needs to be converted to 44.1kHz 16bit, you'll loose some quality
