Dark Contest compilation
General discussionok, i dont know who talked about it first on the wall but for sure thats a fantastic idea. the general quality would be awesome and some of the tracks could compete with an official release without any problems and even win hands down - imo.
so i know its early to talk about it but if something can be a good promotion for ebel, thats the dark contest tracks.
idea: that would be nice to have some cd's presented and for sale at BIFFF. you still can do a net release, but sell around 100-200 copies at BIFFF before giving the tracks away for free on the net. cds would be available only at bifff, with nice cover and a selection of 1 or 2 cds. could also help to get some money. sell them cheap (7-8€, maybe even 10€ for a double) and they will go like cookies.

sounds like a great idea! plenty of talented people here to make a nice cover. (maybe also sell it on the ebel online shop, cause i'm afraid i wont be able to make it to biff this year :( )
funny, I was kinda thinking the same while walking to work this morning!
That way not only the winner gets to win, but the first 15 to 20 win something to! Probably will be a good cd indeed.
JMF seems like the perfect man to make the cd, since he has a burnermachine and experiance in cd-releasing, but i think he might be a bit to bussy with the BIFFF thing as it is without this CD as an extra.... Maybe you should just ask him and see what he says...
i agree it wouldnt be fair to ask jmf with all the work he still has to do til then. the cd burner help is a good idea though, but maybe someone else can do that aswell. lets see if anyone else proposes help on that matter before asking him
maybe a bit over the top for a proper release... but after prelistening to all the contest entries i was thinking of burning the tracks on two cd's. one with "dark scapes" and the other with "dark beats".
but one cd works probably better for promotional use

i have a cd printer and a lightscribe writer, so i could help out with the burning, but i don't have a multi-burner, so i have to do the cd's 1 by 1, but, i would be willing to do it...
i haven't heard all the tracks yet, but i definitely heard some goodies allready... great initiative !! 8)

a double would be cool indeed, 1 with scapes 1 with more rhytmic dark stuff...

the main difference between the tracks are melancholic vs pure darkness rather than beat vs beatless
