Real streaming?
General discussionAs it is now, the "listen" option is labelled as streaming, but in fact it isn't real streaming. It just plays the track as winamp would do.
So everytime I want to have a preview of a track, I get to download it all.
Anyway to change that so we have real streaming and only download the parts of a track we listen? Because in the current way, it's better to save all the tracks you listen to, because in both case you download it all.

yes, but it can be considered as "streaming" because u start listening to it before it finished downloading ...
the played isn't very good yet ... it's my first real flash application ... so you can praise the lord it actually works :D
what's a bit annoying about the tracklist streamer is that it doesn't pre-load the next song, so you have to wait a few seconds inbetween tracks,
also it would be cool if there was a way to jump to the artists/song page on ebel of a track that's playing in the tracklist, so you can check out more tunes of an artists you like, or add some comments about the song etc
and while I'm bitching about it, I might as well go on :) why not leave the option to the user to use winamp with a simple m3u list instead? I ussually have winamp running anyway, so I might as well use that one instead of a flash-plugin running in a memory-hogging webbrowser :)
the winamp m3u is implemented .. we used it before the flash player .. but because most people had problems i quickly made a flash player.
Classic problems : m3u not registered properly so things like WMP would open instead or other player, or proxy not configured for pandora users, etc...
i did think of putting an option in the MY SETTINGS to let you choose between one or the other ..
the flash player does have ONE advantage, it keeps files cached ... so you can listen to a song a couple of times without loading it again.
for the flashplaylist version, i know about that, i actually don't have the time to work at it like i said .. and i don't know much of actionscript (yet).
