that's an easy one :D listen to my first tracks, their melo's, basslines and drums where all made only with my yamaha an200... and that is not a supermachine: just one synth-track with one effectsection (so no multieffect) and 3 drumtracks, consisting together of 6 octaves of drumsamples, most of them unusable for me :D

that one day-song-contest is a bit too "uncheckable"; i mean, even if the participants turn of their moni's, they still have a basic knowledge of how wich preset sounds. even worse: if they just use sounds from their previous songs.

it's a good try, and i like the idea of extraordinary contest, but i think you shouldn't exagerate. also: january (exam-times) is approching... only 7 weeks!! :D yes i know i'm a freak, but if i fail this year, my parents will prove right that i'm uncapable of studying far away from home... :p

i will think for a good idea for you contest, but i can't promise anything ;)

hmm, how about make a song using only samples from your own voice..

ask strekie for the liesbeth-contest - it wasn't that easy. But i like the idea too.

guess you're right bout the proposed ideas, uncontrollable!!!

bout the exams..if we make the contest last long enough we reach more users and no one feels excluded. On the other hand, if it takes too long the tension to perform dissapears.

i like that 'classical' idea, i missed that previous liesbeth-contest, must have been great samplez i guess.

like that 'voice' idea 2, although it's done b4 by various artistz, but there's still a large exploration possible...

2reaman: i was gonna start on that space-station idea, have the samplez by now. but i found GAZAAA's Wind Of APocalypse on today's post coming very very close 2 that! check it out!

how about a typical download-the-samples-from-a-song-and-start-making-something-of-it-contest? I don't like restrictions ... never did.

i think i have an idea: what about remixing a classical song like beethoven, mozart, bach, etc..?

but what if you actually begin the contest around the end of february? then exams ar over, and you can set a deadline of 1 month..no?

great!!!

beepmapsounds are fun too, so if we all take the same image and start working from there. Everything must come from one sample. Or we make a song that fits a short movie. If a short movie was put online by a member (Sheila from Australia fe./ Kinet or other graphic specialists) and we had to stick to the lenghth and the idea of the video...

to joez: there's plenty of that stuff around (acidplanet among others) and you have the copyright issue. To solve that problem we should/could remix a song from a member. Maybe the top three songs in the Top50list should be open for remix???

to firefrog: i understand your point, really, but there will be more contests around this place. And as aforementioned, we could have the competition open for a longer time. Seems like we haven't decided anything here so even this could take three more weeks...

anyway, it's just ideas here - want to hear plenty more from you.
