GUMP

Co-founder of the Elf Cut label and Voxer magazine, Gump is considered a pioneering selector, heir to the post-punk influences he blends with an ecstatic electro. He offers to make people dance with their brains, playing with the eclecticism of an improbable collection of records, loaded with gems of an often unstoppable groove.

SQUEAKY LOBSTER

Squeaky Lobster’s a young man called Laurent. He’s already made a name for himself in the promiscuous electro-acoustic music scene, having several compositions under his belt, including the acclaimed “Palympseste sur souvenir” and the more recent “Khââ”. He’s also a member of Subliminal Toy Crash’s Drifting Bears Collective and Ambivalence’s Gwelmime, resorting to use the term Squeaky Lobster to designate his solitary endeavours. His “Flying Rupies”, recently released on Boya Entertainment, caused quite a stir in the native offbeat scene.

CUPP CAVE

Belgium’s best-kept secret is slowly becoming no longer a secret! His Garbage Pail Beats were last year’s rump-shaking, head-nodding, feet-shuffling slap in the face, one for the crate-diggers and glitch-lovers. Think nice crunchy gravel. Think big, red, 8-bit family sedan. Think wearing sunglasses sitting in the passenger seat with the window open. Think sunshine. Thump, thump, clap; Cupp Cave is guaranteed Hennessy-free.

ODAKA

Rawkari’s first projects made us travel in vertical forms. After driving "Ikebana"’s rhythmical frameworks into the wall, Rawakari now weaves a new alias: “Odaka”. Built around a rhythmical skeleton that is definitely more dancefloor - but still visual - a story is told in deep, organic basslines whose multiple contortions surprise at every turn. Assembled with refined acid sounds sparingly improvised, the music is as much to dance to as to listen to. Out here there are no mouse-clicks, just the startling melodic hum of resurrected machines.

UCTURE

Hugo spent the better part of four years transcribing bizarre borborygmi uttered by a certain Bourlion. Since then he’s moved on from these initial phonetic transcriptions to the quest for those beautiful sounds that are locked inside cheap metallic boxes and expensive glass bottles. One thing led to another, and Hugo finally recorded his childhood memories sublimated into corrugated bassline experiments. The effort, baptised Bwata, was released in 2004 on Ambivalence. Now one of the masterminds behind the Boya Entertainment collective, Ucture is busy preparing a second release for the very near future.

DJ ELEPHANT POWER

Nicolas first made a name for himself as DJ Crol, in reference to his luscious hair. Incidentally, he was also the “scratch” in Scratch Pet Land of Source Records and Sonig fame, and a member of Residence Baudoux’s Fan Club Orchestra; before his solo project - DJ Elephant Power - trumpeted its way into existence in 2004, with the first in already three albums released on Sonig once again.
