Why not one note only (for example only C's) and no pitchbending (no granular stuff either)?  Any style.

yes there is, it's boring most of the times. It can be drone if you want it to be but any style can do.

rather than having a contest, why don't we try to work together on something? i'm currently doing a technomix with tracks from electrobel-artists only... the talents we have here are amazing, really.

maybe we could do a one hour mix, with drone for the intro, over ambient, electropop and techno towards frenchcore or something. (anyone familiar with the mixes from ben liebrand?) if done properly, we could have 30 to 60 people doing a fragment.

or is that something that has been introduced several times before until it bleeded to death again?

not if it's a good track but i can follow you =) but making music with one note sounds very monotone to me too? unless i'm getting you wrong ?

yeah idd, one note? hoink? even in ambient that seems a little too restricted...but I like the contest ideas very much, i'm open to a lot of styles and want to try out a lot of them myslef once so I would be interested ^^  remixing a song of someone else is also something I wanted to do for a long time       ___ ps: can someone please tell me why me "enters" never work on this forum? it's getting pretty enoying :p

no, it shouldn't have to be in C for one hour... that would be easy to mix, but probably not interesting to listen to.

i'm thinking that we get 30 to 60 people motivated, and each and everyone makes a tune on a 4/4 beat somewhere within their range of bpm they work mostly in. most of my track are at 125 or 126 bpm. the lower the bpm, the less number of beats they have and vice versa. and everyone knows with which track they have to fit as well.

this way we could all particapate, and the result will be a reflection of what ebel is.

All those things sound like fun to do. But i guess to start with drone over ambient to electro, etc... etc... and end up with frenchcore/hardcore we would have to make a much longer set than 1 hour. I think in 1 hour the songs will sound forced in each other couse of the many diffirent styles.. But if we don't try we'll never know it! :d

I suggest that everyone makes a song on his own, all using the same samples and/or audio file/melo. And those who participate just selecting together the sounds... It'll be cool to hear the many diffirent things, styles and soundstructure created with the same files. :) What "rool" suggest is'nt bad, but we would spend SOOOOOOOOO much time on it, so it'll get bored i guess... working with 6O persons would be very complicated.. It's possible!!! But only in a long term...
