hi
a friend bought the Medion MD-8383 PC + a M-Audio firewire 410. Tried to install the M-AUDIO yesterday but wont work. all I can hear are some clicks, a some sound from time to time. when I play through winamp/media player -> seems to hangs. Disabled onboard sound card -> no result. Latest M-Audio driver -> no result.
PC has an Intel processor but is using integrated VIA firewire.
Tried the M-Audio on my laptop W2k(tuned for audio, no ACPI etc...) and WXP -> same result. Laptop= AMD, VIA firewire. Is this due to the VIA firewire? I found a lot of topics mentioning that VIA is not ok for Audio/USB.
What can I do? Will we have the same problem with an internal Audio PCI card?
all help more than welcome, she bought that medion pc to make music...

mmh, i had no trouble with that soundcard ... but i did install it on an Intel Chipset ...
1 solution : get a firewire pci card and stick it in there, then it won't use the firewire chipset from your motherboard ...
those cards don't cost too much (like 20E) so it's not too much off an investment (specially compared to the maudio 410 :) )
Aranka tried the card on another computer which had the same m-audio installed -> same problem. So it's probably not the VIA firewire that's causing problems :-)
thx for tip Zark, that or another card (just bought the m-audio) would have been the next step. fortunatly we know more now :-)
