I think we need stricter rules about posting songs.

e.g. a user can upload only one song per week.

this makes the user think about which song he really wants to show to us. I have the feeling some users just bulkdump their entire 'homemade mp3' folder in here ...

we also need a consistent rating system, based on several aspects of music. production (the technical aspect), composition (the artistic aspect), replay value (are you going to?), etc ...

and add a function where users can browse the mp3 database by date or genre or replay or production or ... so you can search for e.g. good produced trance songs cause maby you wanna listen and learn from them ...

I think that's up to the user to decide .. It's all about image and credibility isn't it .. Uploading lot's of bad quality song won't really give him a good image, so it's his disadvantage ..

2nd this, when you check some songs by one producer and you don't like one of it, will you listen to his productions in the future (most logical answer) is no ... smart people only put things that have a bit potential online imo as long as there is space to put them online, why worry ;)

I worry because people don't seem to care about their own music. 'It's just a demo' or 'a rough sketch' 'tell me if you like it ... fuck that shit. you should care about the music, otherwise just de-install the cracked software you got from your bigger brother ... and get something real in life, something else that you can devote your heart to ...

all these bad songs or half assed, 'uncompleted' songs make me shamefull of abusing my broadband connection for downloading and listening to such idiotic musical sprouts ...

**hear here ! ** finally someone who puts it in words ...

but I don't think that a rule like 'one-a-week' is going to stop the noncence, it just slows everything down :(

in that case I prefer the 'unsalted opinion' tactic. if you think a certain track is just a lame excuse of a user to put some home-brewed sound on the internet, then SAY SO !

mmh, that will be fixed once the "song in construction" zone will be online .. Making a clear difference between squetches and real tracks ...

i.m.o. songs under construction should never be published. do you see Jeff Mills , Chemical Brothers or even smaller known artists on any site saying : "hey listen guys, i've got this cool loop that I'm making a song of, check it out ! "

lame...

I tried putting it tactfuly, to no avail ...

amlost every song I listened to on E-Bel SUCKS! ..

ha that felt good. (I screamed that out loud, you know)

the only songs that made a lasting impression came from Freakazoid, and those songs are trance. I don't like trance, but he managed to grab my attention ...

there are like (just guessing here) 500 users, of wich 100 active in songposting, on this website and allready there are more then 600 songs posted?! doesn't that raise your eyebrow? I mean, common. It's just statiscticaly impossible for all those songs to be good!

get real finish a song refinish it when you are sober refinish it even more let it rest for a month recheck again

and then, maby then, upload it ...

well that's kinda hard, you've "only" listened to 99 of those songs ... that's like 15% ...

And well, all depends what kind of music you like too. the whole techno/house/trance isn't very represented here on e-bel .. but hopefully it'll come ...
