I'm starting with making instruments. For now, mainly simple wooden instruments like percussion, didg, guitar. Has anybody else made some? I think it would be cool to post pictures and exange plans. (i know someone once posted plans for a theremin) I will also post some pictures if i have finished a project succesfully.
(yes i am aware i can find loads of plans and examples on the internet, but i would really like to hear from you guys' personal experiences ;) )
my grandfather did this in puurs. i don t know if you are in a club but i think it s hard on your own. making an instrument can take a while (> a year), bending of wood takes a loooong time. he made a wood organ, a clavinet(? don t know if this is right, a small table that s also some sort of piano) and a clavicimble.
apart from that K'NEX guitar??? nope. Thought about it tho :) but i think i should've done "houtbewerking" for that instead of spending 6 years of studying like hell... I wish i could make a contrabass tho.. those things are fucking ace, but the price is too. They've become quite rare since the electric bassguitar... Anywho, they're great for triphop --> i like if you ever make one, lemme know :)

This thing is called a Cajon (Ca'djon). The first time i saw this thing i was like whoah what that fuck is that (Najib Amhali, the dutch (marokkaanse) stand-up comedian was jamming on it while his technician was toying with all sorts of effects like overreverb, phasing, ...) It's a cool little percussion instrument though...
succes!!!! :) i made my first instrument!! :) (actually, i made 2 in two days time) I can't say what it is yet, since it's a birthday present for Yaka. But i'll post pictures after i give it to him (next thursday). What i can tell u is that i saved 140euro a piece (if i would buy the cheapest available in nearby stores) Tomorrow, i start with a new project, the cigar-box guitar! :) After that, a bass :) I know i'm starting out easy, but like Rude, i'm not used to working with wood and i need to get more "in touch" with the materials and possibilities.
to Rude; yeah, Najib is cool!! I'm learning ableton now, just so i can do the loop stuff he does with the cajon and beatboxing

doesnt matter, electronic work with 12volts max. ; no es peligroso!
only if you use transfo its a little dangerous, but with batteries...
to work with wood you just need good tool, electric or not but its more easy and fast with electric tools of course, for my last hawayan guitar I use a "defonceuse" (hii) , very percise work,
