well i noticed since i've been uploading some songs recently that you can listen to them while they're still pending, so in order to spare CPU i listened to my songs through the site but it keeps counting hits, quite unfair i think, wouldnt call it a bug, rather a cheat :D i dont know if u guys think about this the same way as me but hey, life goes on, just wanted 2 report this

listen to your song lots of times and get lots of hits ;)

you'll see that it'll give your song a negative 'Q' ...

the concept of Q is discussed in a faq on the top50....

Hem... We all know that the Q is not computer generated... ...is it? It's rather a kind of vote restricted for some special members. The explication in the faq is a joke for me :-) Am I wrong?

Yeah Zark stuck some chinese people in his basement and have them calculate Q for each song uploaded.

I'm going to put my bets on the faq if you'll excuse me, for the sake of actual logic.

:D Hmm... It's just that it seems there is no immediate change in the Q whem a vote is recorded. It happened later. If it was computer generated it would be instantaneous.

So maybe I'm right and the workers are phillipinians (they're cheaper than chinese, and as Coluche says "ils se reproduisent en captivité") :)) :)) :))

perhaps it's calculated on a daily base?

Not necessarily I think; If it would generate everything possible on the website every nano-second I think it would be dead; I presume it updates periodically. Beats me; I'm clueless how it works and so should all the rest be, that's the point of it :)

Besdes if we knew how that system worked then things like the dark contest could probably be manipulated so the random player gets a few select songs more often.

Yes indeed. The less people know how it works the better it is.

Well, I read the faq again, and it seems that it is neither only computer simulated nor only human factors... So this explains the delay. Probably the Q is computed calculated but must be validated by human(s).

So I think we must urgently call child protection (or maybe the drug brigade?) :D

Calculating the Q for all the songs on the website takes approximately 2minutes of Cpu time.

The Q is calculated every night around 3am, when there ain't too many people on the website.

calculating the Q EVERYTIME data is changed would slow the page generation by 50ms during "calm hours" and around 400ms during peak time ... maybe more ...

a lot of data on ebel is calculated at fixed interval.

You haven't noticed, but the muzik page is generated once every 5minutes :)
