I've checked some tracks in several parts of the forum and I've come to the conclusion that quite allot of tracks that are posted in the wrong section. for example: some tracks in the techno section are more dance or goa tracks. or some tracks in the ambient section are acctually more industrial or ..... I know it's hard to judge sometimes. But Zark has choosen to group tracks with the same style, wich is good but also makes it hard to judge what track go's where. Now my question is: How are we going to solve that?

maybe we can make 3 styles like --> electronic music --> groove music --> other

and then make a division in the different genres like --> electronic music --> Trance/Hardtrance --> House/Hardhouse

and so on

I think the difference between jumper and Rave is that Rave is closer to Hardcore than Jumper is. I don't know if this is correct but I think it.

I just suggested a similar thing on 2 other threads. I'd make +/- 7 main genres and only add subgenres if the main genre gets populated though.

Everybody seems to have troubles with the amount of (sub)genres. I'm glad our noses point in the same direction and are putting our brains together to find a solution.

yeah we deffinatly need less genres of music. how about

  • ** experimental:** experimental, idm, trip hop, experimental hip hop ambient, industrial

  • ** techno:** techno, hardtek, breaktek

-** house:** house,deephouse, tekhouse, hardhouse

  • trance: trance, hardtrance, goatrance,....

  • breakbeat: breakbeat, drum'n'bass, bigbeat, downbeat, hip hop

  • hardstyle: rave, jumper, hardcore

-** electronica:** electro, acid, electropop,

the genres that are in bold are the main genres. everything that's written next to it just comes in the main genre, so we don't have to deal with the subgenres anymore.

that sounds good, i'd just add a Downbeatsection for triphop etc... instead of in "experimental" and take dnb out of breakbeat. and if you want to put electro as a sub-genre, it would need to be one part in house and other part in breakbeat (electro-house, electro-breaks)...

and dnb could actually be put into HARDSTYLE ...

basically the thing is that a user who click on "trance" for example, will not be shocked to hear hard trance. but a user who clicks on breakbeat might not like hearing dnb ...

i would also add an oldskool rave-section in the breakbeat section, there is more rave than the boenke boenke rave

WORD ! seems like this gets forgotten, the old rave is way better than the rave today ... cause that's indeed boenke boenke , pretty boring sound nowadays. But on the other hand, do people still create old rave tunes like they used to make ? ... I know you Quaint & Gooze trow old rave / oldskool sets (bigup for this) but are there actually new songs that could be put in oldskool ?
