an issue on bandnames
General discussionMost of you know me as user kaoz, but my musical project is called SOL19 since year&day.
Last week, I was notified that a user at ebel.nl calls himself SOL1988. I emailed this person while at the same time I emailed ZARk.
After getting no answers (my emails probably being too 'aggressive'), I decided to create a SOL19-profile on ebel.nl just to make my point clear. The next day, I got the attention of Erophin, the moderator and soon enough I got an email from ZARk, but without any solution.
As a reaction, I created a new userprofile on ebel called ZARk1998, hoping this would make my point clear (again). ZARk told me I was pointing my anger in the wrong direction. Absolutely right, but what else can I do to get some serious communication on this issue?
Ok, I’m sorry I’m not laughing here, but try to wonder how you’d feel when you suddenly would see Aphone17, Cestqui2001, Bandarlog100, Rabauw77, Erophinia, Jerry Poppins or ZARk1998. I mean, I’m also a thief, but why not try to be a little more inventive?
So, at this point, I’m not angry, but quite disappointed tho’.
Any remarks on this issue? Would it piss you off? Am I overreacting? Am i a fascist? Should i apologize? Will i be able to laugh with this in let's say a week or two? :D ?( :P

seriously, why should you care about a dutch member with a similar name? what gives you more rights to have it than him/her anyway, even if it was exactly the same name?
i have the same thing happening and i never gave a shit . who cares? it should give you more motivation to be on top of google search pages ;) and if he gets some credit you might get it too by the same way.

i understand very well ur feelin Kaoz... if a Aphone17 comes, i kill the guy, or myself :)
but u certainly know, and its not always easy, stayin calm can help you, if ur aggresief u loose imediatly.
You have been very angry to create new profiles etc, could have been better to spend ur energy with diplomatics mails...
Anyway, i really can imagine what it makes you feel, not cool , but its better for urself to stay calm and try to change the situation with words.
And if nothin changes, just learn to live with that...

I had the same problem! 8 years ago With a friend bass player, one formed a group that subsky was called. At that time we did not have Internet to check if this name were already used… Now, google is very practical to make this kind of checking...

but ok, i've calmed down... no-one owns the dictionary anyway... so i'm trying not to care anymore...
however, if i ever get faced with a commercial release of SOL19, i'm afraid i will not hesitate to contact Sabam...
