recording dj sets with laptop

this problem seems to be one of electric induction. Probably your power supply is making an electric field in your soundcard (wich gives a bad noise due voltages created by the field)

The only thing you can do (in my opinion) is to buy yourself an external soundcard or one with a breakout box (not even whether the breakout box should help it).

building a faraday cage in a laptop seems trickey buisiness to me. (if not impossible)

mmh, heard this so many times ... most of the time with DELL pc's ...

all i can say is that i've never experienced this with a toshiba... The problem is most probably the fact that the powersupply is a switching powersupply ... basically there's a lof of "noise" on the power current you are getting, and i suppose that noise just gets in somehow. try hooking it up on a ups or some stable power current to see if you still get that problem. (for problem determination's sake)

at the risk of sounding stupid: i'm a total rookie on electronics so a farady cage is out of the question... could you explain ups or stable power current... how do i do that....

btw i use an acer laptop
