And why should we? Are we invited? And why should one try to stop the G8?

(Don't go blabling about antiglobalism or something now....)

So you're gonna protest and smash windows cause the 8 rich countries want f.e. Reduction of global imbalances and Protection of innovations against product and brand-piracy?

And also want to talk about good governance, lasting investments, peace and security in africa?

Or are you just mad at them cause they made it possible that you could buy all your Yamaha-gear so cheap? Or did you buy it directly from the Korean dude that assembled it?

Seriously, what is the problem? They ARE seeing how they can make the world less unfair, but you wanne go protest and stress it out buy smashing the windows of every bank in Heiligdamm?

1: the protest will be peacefull, there will be roadblocks, sit ins,... the violence on the past g8 tops was clearly caused by the police, except for a few hooligans who don't know what they talk about anyway

2: read the links i posted and you will see that these 8 countries+ the eu are taking 5 permanent seats in the un security council, are responsible for the majority of the weapons that are exported to 'conflict'areas, they are the most industrialised countries(therefore they are the ones who could have big impact on the enviroment) etc... etc... so the whole anti g8 top is about what these countries can change but don't

3: it's not about NOT buying stuff, cause an embargo makes no sense at all, this korean dude could lose his job because of you not buying his product.

4: i'm sorry you think everyone who goes to heiligendamm is a hooligan, maybeye you should go there yourself and see there's a lot more then violance: there's a contra g8 top, there will be loots of good music, parties,... i'm sure there will be riots, but it won't be me rioting there.

[I1: the protest will be peacefull, there will be roadblocks,

Roadblocks >< peaceful protesting.

Peaceful protest would be chanting in the streets.

Roadblocks + German police at a g8 meeting = looking for problems

there's a contra g8 top, there will be loots of good music, parties,...

Oh, why yes, I suppose then it is ok. Everyone knows that the leaders of our nations will listen to you if you take some constructive action like partying.

Oh, they listen. Think watergate etc. for public opinion. But the public opinion needs to be changed about certain things then. Distribute text, talk, seminars, petition, whatever; But roadblocks and parties against g8? Daft.
