Remix?
Help neededWell, right now I'm doing a remix and some doubts have risen... I only took the orginal vocals from the song (it's a rock-pop song) and build everything around those, means nothing else despite the vocals is original. Is it then still a remix?
Please anyone linger my doubts!

Oh! That's bad! When is it a remix then? I mean the voice and the melody are intact and I also use the original songstructure... but replaced everything from drums to guitars... I read somewhere that remixes can go to just using the vocal-part or even just parts of the vocals to do a remix... you really have to help me out here, because I have really big thing on hands and don't want to mess it up...

Few years ago I took the whole song as a WAV.. some equalizing and an other song with lots of bass... loaded them full in the sampler of reason and just played them togheter... And I thought that was a remix... :))
james holden did a britney spears song. the only part of the original song in the remix is some seconds of britney moaning
Think of it like this:
a remix is very likely to contain 1 bar of sound (vocal, melody, drumloop, whatever!) of the original track. When you record a one-shot sound and use it in your track, it's more like a sample (especially when it's edited).
So, you made a remix :)
