clicks-problem with soundcard

i'm having those irritating clicks when i start a loop or when a loop goes back from the end to the beginning. its each time one single click, just like some milliseconds have been cut of the sound, and i tried all the buffersizes (when the buffersize increases, the sounddrops become even longer!!!). the clicks only appear when starting sound or looping in ableton, each time on the beginning of the loop

it never occured before, only now, with my new Motu Ultralight. is it due to wrong settings?

and what is the use or what is so much better of a 96kHz sampling rate compared to 41000?

make sure the begin and the end of your sample is cut right... i mean, when you 'soundforge' the sample, create a tiny fade-in and fade-out of milliseconds, just to be sure that the wave starts and ends on the 'middle line' (i forgot the right word for this... hope you know what i mean...) but you saying it never happened b4, it's maybe not that... could be indeed your soundcard-settings... try changing your standard sampling-rate to 44.100 and see if you still have the problem...

about 96kHz, theoreticly it's double the quality of 48kHz (so also double the megabytes...), but since the human ear hardly hears above 20kHz, there's a lot of discussion around the matter...

yes fade in fade out 4ever ^^

U nearly can't hear the difference between 96 and 48 khz. but u will loose less quality if u make everytrhing in 96 and then export it as one 48 or 44 khz file (for burning on cd for example). 24 bit or 16 bit is another story, the difference is bigger then between the sample rates. So better a high bit rate then a high sample rate.

I do make everything in 96khz 24 bit. But ofc it all depends of your samples and plugins qualities. And cd quality isn't that bad at the end or is it ?

it's definatly a problem of zero-crossing, cause it never happens before + when i raise the buffersize, the drops become longer (i think that the audiodrops have the same length as the buffersize). os it is not really a click, but a short drop in the audio (which makes a clicking sound if it is very short)

guys, I'M HAVING SERIOUS PROBLEMS!!!!! thursday i gotta play, but with the motu i'm still having the annoying clicks on the startpoint of a loop in ableton!! IT'S NOT ABOUT THE BUFFERSIZE, even when my buffersize is 2048, it still gives drops, and then the drops are even longer!!!!!!! also putting my sampels in "ram-mode" in ableton doesn't help. i tried reinstall, but nothing helped. now i want to use my realtek97 as last solution, so i de-installed the motu but now THE REALTEK DOESN'T GIVE ANY SOUND ?( ?( ?( ableton recognises the realtek, in wavelab i see that there is actually a signal coming out of the realtek (with the audiometers), but ZERO OUPUT out of the plug on the back of my pc! i checked the hardwarelist and no problems.

i'm in FULL PANNIK so please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps: don't u dare to say: format c!!! ps2: meanwhile i can't rehearse or continue to work==> pleeeaaaase heluuup!

uninstall + reinstall the Motu uninstall + reinstall the realtek (if you really need it).

In ableton in the audio sample track select Fade + RAM

is it for only one sample or all ??? howmuch ram do you have? 1024 mb is a minimum for live.

:)

maybe you should try putting your buffer size on 128 instead of 2048 :!
