i'm working on my first song to put on ebel (breakcore as you might guessed from the thread) but i'm searching my ass of on how to create that twisted snare sound, you know: the snare that seems stuck for a glipse of time.

i tried putting snare samples very close to eachother with a decreased lenght, without decreased lenght, i tried it with most effectmodules, and i tried it on most synths, but it never really gets close to that one sound you hear a lot in breakcore

can someone please tell me how to create that damned sound, or i'm forced to say "tririririririri" in a mic and just paste it in...

thanks

I think what you describe IS putting snares very close together at a decreased length. Maybe you've drawn them at 1/16th instead of 1/64th of length?

you also have to make shure that the snares don't play in polyphony, but in monophony (which means that the current snares cuts off the sound of the previous snare), like that you get that stutter-effect that you can also do with pioneer cd-players.

now that's the shizzle i was searching for! thanks but does it mean i have to use something else then a redrum in order to use monophonic sounds?

Mrbadmonkey: i'll give it a try someday, but for now i have enough to find out myself in reason, but thanks.

or you can try to put a pitch-shifter/phase-shifter/ring mod somewhere between your output and mixerboard ^^ that usually does the trick for me :)) (and don't forget the distortion pedal ^^)
