Hi I own a RM1x and ableton live

What i wanna do is that when i play a track live with ableton and then a track "16 patterns" togehter So far so good Everythings connected and my RM1x follows when i press play on ableton and everything is synchronized. Now when i have played my track on my rm1x i can go on with my set in ableton. My problem is how to change to another "u"-pattern track on my RM1X with ableton. Because when i press my right cursor key of my RM1X it will change my pattern but doesn't run clockwise with ableton anymore So i think it has to be something like program change This i can use in ableton but doesn't seem to work with the RM1x. Maybe becoz it's a 16 track sequencer

make sure your RM1X listens for pattern changes. usually these kind of machines can be configured to ignore certain midi messages :)

i don't know about ableton, and i haven't used an rm1x

but are you sure you are using the correct midi command to change your pattern?

it's probably a sysex command (system exclusive) and it should be documented in your rmx's manual

you can also try to 'record' a pattern change if the rmx broadcasts pattern changes midi out... the recording will than have the pattern change in it so you can edit it (alter the pattern variable) and replay it from ableton

doesn't an rm1x has something like "pattern select", where u can quickly switch from one pattern to another with having to dial true the library? with my yamaha an200, i can assign patterns to it's 1-octave "keyboard" (u know, those white and black buttons that have to represent a keyboard) and switch from one pattern to another whithout stopping the sequencer and the next pattern takes the same tempo like the previous pattern.

but i don't think u can controll that with ableton (just like u can't change to another preset in reason thru ableton...or is this possbile?)

i know you know a lot of the rm1x So if i understand there's no way to change it midi-way So is it possible to change from U-pattern without losing the midi synced to ableton I had a MC 505 a while ago and i know that you can choose next pattern and it will play as soon as the previous pattern was finished playing If you understand.

don't know rmx and hardly ableton, but like bigben says most hardware has a specified sysex command making able to change patterns, so indeed check the midi-reference-table in your manual. in cubase it is possible with most synthz so i guess the problem is not that ableton couldn't do this...

well, in cubase u just select a controller lane with the right number like f.e. cc13 and u have 128 steps to change... i guess it's not so very different in ableton... good luck!
