Help neededI have the jp8000, which is to be said a great synth for trance... Well, I have never got a satisfying trance sound directly out of it... So it must be the things you do with the sound afterwards that really make it sound like "trance".... I would like to have some advice on how to get satisfying results. For example, what synth is most suitable (vst, hardware,...) which effects are most suitable (next to reverb)... trance leads and basses, for me it's a little mystery... I must say that starting from the trance presets from albino 2, i got somewhere near some good sounds, but still.... I need some advice from people with experience in trance production..

need to use saw sounds, or supersaw like on the jp8000.

use your filter cutoff and resonance! if u throw away the jp8000, throw it in my direction please... (on my wish-list 4 a few yearz)
Typical but overused is vanguard... others i like (didn't make trance but psytrance but I guess the leads are similar): pro 53, albino, korg legacy cell, superwave performer,... Don't forget to use unison detune. put lfo's on you filters. 1/8th T in s/h mode gives good results. Switch fast using arpeggiators between octaves and play with resonance and cutoff. Layering is o good idea too. Good luck & lots of fun!
hmm in fact i use sytrus most of the time, many people say it's crap, but it isn't imo. i think every vst needs equalizing and mastering to get a decent sound coming out of it. my tracks have almost no other vst's then the standard fl ones you can get as nice sound out of a sytrus as out other vst's imo if you like trance vst's look for albino, superwave, z3ta, etc... but like i said i think you'll ALWAYS need to equalize and put fx on it to get a decent synth sound...Grtz
To make the typical trance lead: make a simple patch with a few saw waves. Put on the unison of your synth at the highest number, detune the lot a bit until it sounds right. Drive the synth with a standard up/down arp and put a delay with a wide reverb after it.
I think there's a ton of tutorials around on how to make supersaw and other trance leads.
