Hi there pandechos!

so, i'm facing some problems with my audio interface. I recently bought me an E-MU 0404 interface. I upgraded to the special driver for vista but I still have a problem using ableton

  1. when i open ableton it often occurs that there is just no sound comming out of my soundcard (but itunes & such still work perfectly) it sometimes helps to change my output configuration (from 1/2 (stereo) to 3/4 (stereo) ) (BTW: WTF does this do anyway?)

  2. sometimes when playing a song, the sound goes all wrong BIG TIME it sounds like a bit crusher thrown on my master. Sometimes it sounds like a bitcrusher only on my low frequencies....

for both these problems there doesn't seem to be any clear reason

so: since I got a live comming up, and I allready had this problem once during a live, I would love to know how to fix this couse its breaking my balls big time!

plz, help

could it be changed by giving my asio driver a bigger/smaler buffersize? do I have to change my bit depth? do I have to "Per Application" (no idea what that means) do I change my samplerate

HELP!!!

keep it simple set youre bitrate to the cd standard 44,100 khz and 16 bit !and later you can toggle between tose bitrates and samplefreq greets

1/2 stereo and 3/4 stereo are the outputs of your soundcard (= 2 stereo's or 4 mono's). seems lke a bad asio-driver to me. try with asio4all, and see if it gets better. the digital distortion is due to different samplerate and bitdepth-settings between your soundcard and ableton. make shure they're the same. 44100 is standard consumer samplerate; while working on your music, it's beter to set everything to 48000 and export to 44100 when your song is finished. though, you have to keep in mind that tunes etc all work on 44100, so you'll have to change the sampelrate of your soundcard everytime. it's a choise between convenience or better soundquality. for the buffersize: tick on the test tone in the setting, set the cpu-usage simulator to the max, and then check for drops/clicks while changing the buffersize.
