Electrobel and Ads
General discussionAs you might noticed a couple of ads have popped up on the website.
These are google ads and are here on a trial period. To see how things will run.
Since i'm pretty disapointed by the flow of tshirts (we should get 2x as many sold), i've decided to place a couple of ads. I've only put them on the muzik page and on the flash player, since these are high traffic pages.
I wanted to keep this whole thing ad free, but i don't really have a choice.
edit: i'd rather have a couple of sponsors rather than having those 'generic' ads .. but no company seems really interested to sponsor us.

oh well damned - the last fortress has fallen!!!! This seemed about the only place on the net with no ads... :(
I know I was pro donation/contribution on the forum - (I've promised to do so and I will), I have seen the Get your T-shirt button and didn't buy one (because I don't wear black T-shirts anymore - I grew out of that period/ a white or dark blue one with the ebel logo would be nice)) but when I see an ad on ebel my heart bleeds. I really hope it stays just a trial period an vividly want to contribute on keeping this site clean. I'm definately willing to give 10 EUR/year to keep this site guaranteed clean. If not, what do you suggest? (I'm talking to the other members now) Full response requested. Ban banners!!!
Maybe every new user gets a version with ads and are asked to pay a contribution to get it ad free. Who already is active has the same choice. Like: every active user gets one month to choose and to pay. If you didn't pay you get to see the ads. (everywhere, huge and full of flashy colors ...)
Must say I'm not familiar with programming so I don't know if it's possible.

I didn't notice any banners yet, only below the flashplayer. and it don't moves me, not even a quick mouseclick on it.
about the T shirt: just ordered one. But I won't buy 2 because I will be saturated after buying one T shirt.
Why not bring out a compilation LP/CD of the best eletrobel songs? or some other usefull musical items?
Still have to buy a tshirt too... But i'm broke also... Life's though! ;) Maybe someday... ( yes, i am a big Cure fan :) )
B.t.w, the banners are so small i hardly noticed them. I'm getting so used too see them jump right off your screen and flash you till you're blind... But then again, if i don't notice them, they miss their point don't they? :)
well just think of them as a free donation ...
just donating a couple of clicks to support ebel ....
Wouldn't it be possible to let the ads open in a new browser window? Much easier to click mutliple times in a row b.t.w. :)

in the meantime you can do the classic SHIFT+click ;)
how much does e-bel get per click? if everyone does a couple of clicks each day will e-bel get enough money?
