Maybe not an extreme CC proposition, but is it possible to add a function when you upload a song to make it "listen" only and no save?
Otherwise I'm going to get into contract-trouble with some labels in the near future (with as a result I have to take songs off of ebel... which would be a pitty). I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. Especially wityh all the internet-labels who put compilations and mp3's online for sale and who demand not to put songs **for download **on other sites (but streaming is ok).
could be really nice to have this option !! i could bring back my beatport released tracks ...
2nd
the same as what baderlog said counts for me It would be a shame to have to delete some of my songs here,.. or being able to upload them...
i understand that this option would be handy for realeased artists, but the danger is that everybody will choose this option and that a part of the cc-/belspirit goes away. i'd say: have a CC-oriented upload and a sabam-oriented upload (which can't be downloaded). basicly it's the same as the no-dl option, but we could secure by adding the need of an official link to the released track or so...
good idea?
yes.... but isn't electrobel thought to be a 100 % CC place... I would appreciate if it could stay that way... question of personal conviction.
off course ebel got to stay a CC place only, for me off course... but a no save option wont be used by everybody, and i think by only few of us, cause making it not downloadble doesnt mean you cant have it on your hd, any audio software can record the ebel player... its just a logic for some label and even a kind of respect, if someone take time (and ear money) to release your music he expect you to not give your music for free on another site off course, but still everybody can listen to it, for free again, and there is no interdiction to record with your software

Sure, you are 100% right.... but if it means some quality users will have to leave Ebel it's worth thinking out some solution. As I proposed earlier-on in the Copyright thread it could be usefull to have seperate page with "protected" users that want to keep in touch with ebel, even stay a member but without having to share their music for free. They'd need a full profile and links to their own pages but in the future Zark/Ebel will/might have to let go all those Cprotected users and their music. If we want to be pro-active, this could be a good solution.

Well it's not becouse you release music that you're a sabam member ;) (how many mp3labels are there where the artist aren't signed to sabam, believe me.. lots & lots of them), so in principle you're doing nothing wrong if you let everyone download your shizzle right here... but not fair towords the label now is it? (I think if you pull a stunt like that, you won't release on that label again quickly)
I would keep the distinction clear between these issues and the whole sabam issue. It still would be CC because you can still listen to the whole song without some sabam-clerk dispatching his laywers to sue electrobel. This is the responsibility of the producers themselves.
As for practical suggestions: the admins (the little computerelves that speak the computers language and make this magic happen) make a script for uploading with the choice (same as myspace options actually) to download, listen or both. We could add a text with the purpose of this option. I assume most that aren't "forced" won't choose this option so it would be a minority that actually chooses this with a reason. I know I still upload all of my songs with both options unless in those rare cases a label prevents you to.
To make it even more CC minded, we could make a quotum for listen only's vs. donwloads. For example: minimum 50% of your songs should be downloadable.
Just brainstorming and hoping to find a good solution to keep a lot of songs in the future here and to attract even more quality songs (as in Aphone's case).
Well ... if you can't download the music anymore... it is not under Creative Commons License anymore?
Or did I misunderstand CC?

As far as I understood CCartists agree others to use, play and distribute (there a several different types of CC-use and conditions) their songs for non-commercial use only... but imho. it doesn't mean that a downloadfunction is imperative. I guess that making some songs non-downloadable wouldn't make ebel CC-unfriendly - maybe just a little unfriendlIER.
